Driving the Jeep 2000 miles soon.
on: June 05, 2009, 09:52:22 PM
So the wife and i are driving up towards Ohio in a couple of weeks and have decided to take the Jeep instead of the trailblazer. From south Texas to Ohio is roughly 1000 miles. I've driven it a few times and the scenery is beautiful..especially around Mammoth Caves-Nashville area. Be nice to get out of the humid tropics and see some hill country for a week or two. Kentucky has fields upon fields of tobacco farms and has this highway called Bluegrass parkway...fine driving. :tu:

I haven't taken a good vacation in 2 years or so.

My goodyears don't give off too much noise....not like my friends BF's....they sound like a jet taking off.

I took mine to Maine last year, and yeah, I certainly notice it's not the best highway machine, but it's not that bad.  I found it struggled a bit to maintain highway speeds when driving into the wind, accelerate to pass someone (often was down into third gear at highway speeds!) or climb a long hill, and it was a bit heavy on the fuel consumption because of the amount of drag.  Still, it was nice to have the space inside to stretch out in, carry extra junk or have the option of going off the beaten track when I got there.  Oh yeah, and the versatility of going topless or semi topless didn't hurt either!  :D

It's not the best thing to travel in, but it is really great to have it once you get where you are going because it's just fun as heck to drive!  :D

Ironton and Portsmouth are about 30 miles apart. If we could get some things firmed up,we could do an impromptou meet up,and maybe get some others that live relatively close to pop in for a few hours.
