Mtech Knives: cheap or inexpensive?

For less than 5 US dllrs, and out of curiosity, I bought a Mtech grenade folder similar to this one:

It says 440 steel. for that amount, Im not sure

Interesting...I don't see em' in online shops, but they come up quite commonly on the ebay listings.

Got 1 from ebay as a throwaway to justify shipping/discount for about $5, and its pretty decent quality and sharp:

I've owned and handled a few Mtech knives before and they're generally poor quality. Some of their knives do look nice but I'm sure the blade steel is 420-440. I've owned a few that had really bad fit and finish.

They're not bad as a throwaway knife to have in a tool box but for personal EDC, I would get something better. I also don't see these in shops. They're more common on eBay and internet stores.

I usually steer people away from M-Tech, if you are wanting a inexpensive imported modern folder of good quality I suggest looking at the Spyderco Byrd line, Red Box Benchmades, or CRKT.
