Today I used my vise  to open the packaging on the new shovel and spade I used to bury my dog. Also to cut the ropes I used to lower his casket into the ground.

RIP Tiger, I will miss you always.

Never a good day there mate.  I have buried 4 dogs, it never gets any easier.   :salute: to your friend.

Thanks, he was my best buddy for seventeen years. He had been seriously ill for a couple of weeks and by rights should have been dead a week or so ago but for his strong will to live.
Yesterday I could not bear to see him struggle for one more day and called in the vet. I hope he can forgive me.

There's nothing to forgive Chip  :salute: It would have been unforgivable to let him suffer
Tony's absolutely right, there was nothing else to do Chip. :salute:
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

He loved you till the end sir.  Don't ever think any different.

I lost my dog of ten years back when I first moved here.  He was going pretty strong until I moved, and my dad called me in tears about 2 months after I got here, our pup was in the Vets office with internal bleeding that they couldn't stop.  I had to find out over the phone that he was put to sleep an hour later, and I couldn't even be there.  One of the most heart breaking things I've ever gone through.  I feel your pain my friend.

I didn't actually use it myself, but I lent my father in law my hammer multitool while he was repairing his conservatory roof. I just helped by measuring up the wood, bit my tongue, and let him get on with it, mother in law's wrath will be amazing when it starts leaking again...

I went round to see a couple of friends today that I've known for 20 years. They normally have a few little jobs that need doing when I go round, so I always make sure I've got most bases covered tool wise. Today they'd got a cupboard door that needed rehanging after a member of their family has completely arsed it up, and it was clattering and fetching the veneer off.

Tools on hand were Victorinox Yeoman and Crescent Toolzall ProXL (Non-locking super bear jaws) - great combo by the way  :tu: I nearly picked up the Charge AL for a change as I was leaving to go there, but switched to the Toolzall at the last minute. Glad I did too - I needed an awl and Leatherman haven't figured out what they are yet  ::) Pliers, drivers and awl used on the Toolzall, but switched to the inline Phillips on the Yeoman after a while - it fitted the screws better

Just as I was finishing, one of them said "Do you want a screwdriver Al?", I just peered round the door and smiled. She said "Yeah, I should have known better - I'll get the kettle on!"  :D

Great story!

Cheers Sean, to be honest I'm not super enthralled by the awls they do use.
How tricky can it be for a toolmaker to make a useful hardened, sharpened spike?  ::)

Today at work one of our old-school manual tinting machines threw a fit just when we really needed it.  The tint cylinders rotate around a central point, and the platform is locked into place by a spring-loaded pin.  We turned it on to agitate the colorants, and the damn thing started spinning like crazy!  The pin was jammed!  Couldn't get a pair of pliers in to free it.  My boss tried wanted to get a paint stick into the gap between the two plates to prevent it from spinning but didn't want any splinters from snapping it getting into the mechanism.  All I heard was, " I wish we had a saw."  Farmer to the rescue!  I used the saw for a nice smooth cut, and used the awl to shave down one end of the shim to fit into the gap with a bit of hammering, which the Farmer also excelled at.  Right tool at the right place at the right time! :tu:

Used my blast to replace an exhaust fan in my bathroom. The new fan was bigger and had to accommodate with the saw.

Mended 2 Ikea lamps with SwissGrip. It is strange that the two devices at the one time occurred problems with the internal contacts.

I was replacing a window in my Uncle's garage and needed my SOG powerlock to get the glazing points out.

Bonus, I found an old furrier knife while doing it, I'll post some picks after it finishes soaking. :tu:

Yesterday I put up a section of chain link fence to keep the new pooch in the yard.  My Swisstool was great for this and being on my belt was there when I needed it.

I went to Walmart to purchase a Pet Taxi so my dog could ride in my new Camry.  When I got it home, I noticed it was packaged so that the top was turned upside down and placed in the bottom, and the holes on the sides lined up.  The used zip ties to bind them together through the holes and they were so tight that with a knife you would have to cut them from the top, possibly damaging the edge of the carrier during the cut.  I pulled out my trusty Charge Tti and used the v-cutter and had them all cut off in about 30 seconds with no damage whatsoever to the carrier edges.  Go Charge!!!

Cleaned out the trap in the walk-in shower. Had to go fetch my Spirit to remove the cover plate though though, the #1 Phillips on the SOG wasn't up to it
Haha, poor SOG!  LOL  I did the same thing today.  Pics in a few minutes...I have to catch up on the thread first.

I've used awl on my P4 to drill a hole near bottom of plastic 2lit bottle. There is no water at my current demolition site and I need to wash my hands. So improvised tap. The screw is just to mark the hole, you actualy unscrew lid to depressurize bottle and start water...

Busy day today.  Saturday usually is.  Today My VIC Spirit got a work out too.  First I used the "L" wrench with a #2 Phillips to remove & replace the drain cover, on a shower unit, to snake the drain.

Also Used the pliers to tighten a plastic "wing nut" on a new toilet tank-to-bowl bolt.

Also used the blade to cut the rubberized toilet shims after the install was tested.

Also used the "L" wrench to get a little leverage on a 2" Gate Valve.

Okay, not really. I just thought it was funny.

Just got a tool adapter for my original super tool so I used it to tighten all the handles on my wife's pans and lids. Then I used the opener to pop the top on a bottle of big boy apple cider.
