Good looking 110.    :like:     Looks like it needs cleaning. You can do that without sending it in to Buck. How many dots does it have by the 110 stamp?

Thanks guys. I’ll have to look when I get home. I don’t recall seeing any dots on the tang.

EDIT: just noticed the timeframe.
My bad. Dots it are :D

Not dots per se.
There are lots of possible symbols.

From Buck's site:

My grandpa’s 110. Needs some love from Buck. I’m just hesitant to send it in. 72 to 86 I believe.

That's a great family heirloom Roc,congratulations.

It's a 1972 -1974 year of production but in mid 1974 they added a dot on each side of the 110.It's also 440C steel and heat treated by Paul Bos who started to treat Buck knives in 1970.

Thanks for this! It’s nice to know that my family idol had such great taste. Pinpointing the time frame of when he might have bought it is truly appreciated.

I have the original pouch too, but some of the stitching has come out at the bottom. Does anyone know if Buck would repair that?

I don't think they would repair it.It will most likely be replaced.

Look for a local shoe repair shop, they may be able to stitch it. If not, there are some people who make and sell sheaths that might help you.

Good luck.

Great idea. There’s a shoe repair shop just a couple miles from me. They’ve been there since I was a kid, so they must be doing something right.

Nice

Thanks guys!  I just wish I liked the D2/Slim Pro that I won from SMKW as much!  Feels really good in the hand and is sharp!!  But the action when opening is so stiff that I just ended up putting it back in its box and bought a Griptilian to carry instead.

Maybe. I tried adding a dab of oil. That was a mistake. Haha. The oil quickly absorbed into the Micarta handle!!

I wish Buck would design these 110’s with bronze phosphorus washers. Surely it couldn’t cost that much to do so.

I’ve thought of drilling out the rivets and replacing with torx screws and pivots, like many other knives. Then adding the phosphorus washers.

Not sure how to do all that, but it might make for a nice knife.

Just because I didn’t pay for it doesn’t mean I am willing to destroy it. Haha

I have never done that kind of modding. Be uncharted territory for me!

Try rinsing the110 with hot water and apply dish soap to the pivot. Work the pivot carefully as you do this. Then rinse thoroughly. And dry with compressed air or a blow dryer. If this doesn't work I would return it to the seller and request a new one.
