Romisen does pretty well. Of course it's not going to be exactly as good... but for the price point, Romisen usually does really well.

I myself haven't dived into DX lights but I'm sure someone else can get you to spend your money. =P

I like my $10 off brand DX cree Q5-WC better than lights that cost multiple times that...of course the build quality on a $10 light isn't the best, but some of their $20-30 lights are really sturdy and as much as you'll ever need..

i've heard good things about the romisen...i'd go with it hands down

Not quite, but it's a subjective thing. I own alot of inexpensive ligts and have found some of the off-brands like Ultrafire, Trustfire, Solarforce, and the like can make a good light. But given what this particular light is, it might look like a NC Extreme but it is far from it. It's using a older emitter compared to the version from Nitecore that are available with a Q5 or R2. This Romisen definitely does not have the UI the Extreme does.......and I have no doubt the finish on the Romisen is likely Type II.

But like most things, you get what you pay for.

Does it not bother anyone that NiteCore went through the trouble and expense of designing and building a light and then Romison comes and copies it? I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone.

Externally they copied it pretty close, but it ends there. And this happens all the time. Where I have a problem with this stuff is when companies overseas copy.....and also mark their products with Official brand names. That's when I have a problem.

If no one was allowed to copy anyone else, nothing would ever get done. That's why patents expire and are limited to specific things...

But yes, trademarks and logos get copyrighted, and it's damn wrong to borrow the goodwill that goes behind it. Most of these flashlights stay pretty safe. Besides, whole designs like that can't really copyrighted, and if they are, not internationally, and it's hard to say it's copied, it could be developed on both sides on a similar flashlight. You never know. Nothing has been done wrong in this case, probably.

I'm the same Prime.  I only send my money in the direction of the company that designed it in the first place.
