I hear it all the time oh those poor souls, everyone's against them ahh!(I'm done with that BS) more like the other way around, this is the result from telling three kids to get out of some ones garden  >:( I know most of you will say hey! not bad one broken window in four years   what you complaining about? I except that but I'm done with the cotton wool approach, time for action  :twak:

Well I'm done with them they do not warrant my respect any more   now I wouldn't trust them to walk a puppy in fact I'm in the frame of mind to say the law should adopt this: zero tolerance out of the womb and into a cell  approach ) :D JMO four years of stones at my window allows me a little rant now and then  :salute: apologises to the law abiding  :tu:

Why can't you video them and then send a copy of the video to your constabulary? o.O

You cannot simply video kids(in fear of counter prosecution) here unless the police set it up first   for a broken window I doubt they'll do it  >:(

[edit] just spoken with my local  :police: and apparently it's more complicated than just CCTV installation  hmm I'll be interested in what they have to tell me  ???

Just wait for them with a mask on, and then kick their asses.  They won't be able to identify you, and you'll feel SOOOO much better about things.  LOL.

i know laws are different in other places but how can you possibly justify that law. how can anyone expect privacy on a public path.... it's public.  :pok:
anyone on the path is open to observation. the fact they are likey minors is even more reason for observation. if you have documented these this behavior with your "law enforcement" with no relief how can you sit and do nothing. honestly, who's breaking the law here? you?.... the hooligans?.... or the cops by not doing their job? do you not have a right to protect yourself and your property?

Given that my Jeep was broken into last week and my GPS and power inverter were stolen, I tend to agree with the sentiment.  However, as with anything else, it's the noticeable few that give them all a bad name.

What about sensor lights?  If nothing else, they will serve to alert you of passersby at odd hours and possibly deter anyone from doing anything, when they could easily be seen or identified.

As for videotaping in a public place, is it illegal or merely inadmissible in court?  If it's inadmissible then you can still do it, just don't expect to be able to use it for the police, but there are other ways of doing it.  Communicating with the parents and providing evidence to satisfy their claims means they may take action where the police can't.  You might also want to look into whether or not still images are covered by this- if they were, then no one would be able to take vacation pictures.....

I can't support vigilantism, at least not overtly, but there will be times when it's up to the individual to take responsibility for themselves, their homes and their neighbors.  Finding a way to do it legally may be difficult, but it can be the only way to keep your belongings intact.  Above all else though, keep yourself safe.  Property protection is no excuse for getting hurt and/or killed.

Interesting fact - local reports indicate the greater number of crimes are by the 20-30 crowd, rather than teenagers.

I guess cause we can afford more alcohol? - and some of us are carrying aggregate feet of sharpened steel, ignition sources, and enough rope to make bondage night at the Gaff look like child's play.

As for this public-recording issue?

In theory I am Pro-Privacy (except that bit about not using cameras on nude beaches, what the hell is that all about?)

but it irks me that the government doesn't have to follow the same rules I do, I can't record people in public places, but they've got cameras all around the damned city.

We've got posters everywhere asking you to make a report if you see unusual or suspicious activity.

Yeah, I do, it's all those gits CARRYING GUNS and PUTTING UP FRICKEN CAMERAS that I find highly gorram suspect.

At food old Times, every farmer had a rifle charged with SALT, and when a parent had a son with a soft, burning as hell injury, he knew his son was is someone's property trying to' steal someone's work. Beating him was the rule.
Sadly, nowadays air rifles can not deliver enough salt.
I have to agree with motion lights and a bucket of somehow smelly or staining water to help identification.

Some good points here  :tu:

AFAIK and from a telephone conversation (with police) videoing onto a public path is not allowed  I will be getting a visit from a officer in the next few days,to explain what I can and can't do hmmm! this will be interesting.

Now taking a photo is completely different I don't know why maybe it's because it's a still image  ???

using a light is a good idea but I'm on the first floor positioning one would be difficult as they use the public path to launch the stones, you're 100% correct protecting my windows is not worth injury or jail time. :salute:

Best thing is to get even tougher glass fitted I will speak to my local authority about this option  :tu:
