I think there are a lot of hype for the brand, there are a lot of others that's comparable quality and lower price.
Moleskin is oiled cardboard, so I'd guess not nearly as durable as leather.I think there are a lot of hype for the brand, there are a lot of others that's comparable quality and lower price.

I went to see if Walmart had some but all they had was leather ones. (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
do those have a pocket like the moleskine ones?
Quotedo those have a pocket like the moleskine ones?It has a pocket on the back cover. Let us know how you like and how well your Moleskne holds up over time.
I agree that there is a ton of hype due to the historic nature of the brand, but..I own one hard cover plain lined Moleskine, and I love it. It is a question of "fit and finish"... these are well crafted and made from quality materials.. the pocket is a useful touch.. as is the elastic band and the page mark. So while there are cheaper alternatives, I don't always want to be ruled by cost and carry something "cheap".My suggestion is that if you intend the filled book to be kept, then use a Moleskine. If you intend to just jot things down and then toss it, go for cheap.Mine is a book in progress, so having something I enjoy handling and carrying motivates me to use it.
What a convenient thread resurrection <plug>Cheap (at least for the UK) Moleskines available in the Hive of SAKtivity</plug>
