Leatherman Crater C33x

So i bought a Leatherman Crater C33x at Frys Electronics here in Houston about a month ago for 10 bucks. When i first opened the clamshell i was mildly disappointed. It seemed cheap feeling being as light as it is. It sat on the bathroom counter for a week before i touched it again. One night i couldn't find my Kershaw Blur i normally carry to work so i grabbed the Crater. Putting it thru its paces at work it proved to be the best bang for my buck for a knife in quite a while. From chopping cardboard, cutting cat 5, and even scoring Lexan the blade edge has held up nicely. I even used the bottle opener on a couple of bottles Shiner and it worked excellent.
I recommend trying one out as they are cheap and the steel seems well developed.

Pros-
1.) Cheap!  You won't mind actually using this knife.
2.) Stays fairly sharp for 420HC
3.) Works good with one handed opening thanks to the thumbstud..flicks open well
4.) Carabiner holds well. Doubles as a bottle opener..which works well too.

Cons-
1.) Sideclip could be a bit stronger

The c33 is the only one of the new LM knives that I have Pacu, and I think it's a great little knife.

Sure, it's relatively cheap, but it's a great cutter and you're not scared to use it were it might get scratched up.

I really want to try out an e33L / Lx though. It's on my list!

I think I know what you mean - because of the carabiner / bottle opener? Looking at it now, you'd think they could have made it a bit more compact - I guess they needed the carabiner to be a certain thickness for strength. Although, the handle doesn't feel "fat" or anything - it doesn't bother me.

I just noticed it has big fat bronze washers too, it does open very smoothly.

I have the exact same one, and I like it too. I want to get a 55 series next.

Agreed, this second generation of LM knives are truly better. They're getting things right.
