Meh, I think the design is kinda retarded actually. Looks aside (which I don't like, looks like an ergonomic nightmare), half of the batteries inside doesn't actually do anything, they are just dead weights most of the time, and may or may not work when you need them since usb will draw power from it when 123a is dry. If a user would let 123a run dry chances are he won't bother check the condition of the backup either.

The ergonomics alone would put me off; even if this was only $20 I don't think I'd want one.  From what I'm reading of the brief this is a torch that is designed to never be used, genius.  ::) ;)

WAH-wah! (Trumpet mute)

Non starter.  In 2 years every flashlight will be able to do similar for $30.  Hi Tech is High for about 1 week.

Makes as much sense as buying a $10,000 computer that will never suffer a component failure.  In 5 years, you'll wish it failed so you can get an up to date, latest greatest computer.

Even if its out of date by the time I get it I still want one. If I get tired of it I can always trade it or give it away.

Don't like the design but that's just me.  Ergonomics... not looking so good.  Runs on CR123, me not a fan.  Price tag!  :o  Think I'll pass.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Well, it looks crap and I'm not so impressed with what it claims.  Thumbs down from me.

Emergency flashlights, by definition, use a common battery type. This is a toy.

Now if it could take anything from AAA to CR123...

You just put me in mind of the Gerber Omnivore.  The light doesn't particularly grab me but I like the idea of a torch that can run on three different battery types.

As the most common and widely used are in fact AAA/AA batteries that's what I'd want around should ever the world hit crisis point, the point I'm making is AAA/AA will be easier to find in an emergency than say CR123's,18650's and RCR123  :salute:
