Yay failure!
on: December 09, 2009, 05:07:13 AM
So today I walked into my roommate's room and saw a shiny orange Juice S2. As soon as I open it two of the plier springs break in half and fly at my face. :D

Not putting blame anywhere, just thought it was interesting. :2tu:

I manage to feel somewhat guilty although it is no fault of mine, but I did tell him about the Leatherman warranty which he was apparently unaware of.

Your friend should be thanking you - he could have found out the hard way.

On each side there are 3 long pieces of metal that snap the pliers into place, I think on the other ends they support the screwdrivers. Not sure of the terminology but I thought they were bar springs or something like that? XD

What?! TWO backsprings broke at once? Was it a brand new tool? Hadn't he opened it before? ???

And uh, a picture or two would be nice... :pok: :D

It's clearly obvious that you have a problem touching your roommate's stuff so he had to make an S2 booby trap to teach you a lesson.  I think he's tired of you touching his things without his permission and knew that a Juice would be too tempting for you to not touch.  In case you didn't figure it out, the springs were supposed to take both your eyes out and prevent you from ever looking at his stuff again.

Would be true with my other two roommates, this was the first time for him. :D

Used, no cameras up in this hizzy. Either it was improperly closed (looked properly closed though), or it was just a weird crazy fluke. There was a few spots of surface rust, but nothing indicating failure. Both springs snapped in half, or about in half, very cleanly.

Hi,

Could you please post the date codes for the Juice with the two broken backsprings.  I seem to recall that this was a bit of a problem with the early Juices.

Thanks - Joe
