Hi all,
Last night at work, a woman that I know who does a lot of animal rescue, is trying to get in vet school, came and asked me for some help. My coworker, Kristie, told me that her friend's grandfather, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, used to breed and train hunting dogs, specifically Beagles and Feists. The Beagles are AKC registered and bred for hunting (gun dogs) and the Feists are a breed that is not recognized by the AKC, but are bred specifically for hunting (they resemble a slightly less hairy and slightly bigger Jack Russel Terrier). Unfortunately, her friend's father is no longer able to run things because of his illness. They had decided to close the business, but unfortunately not before her dad was careless and allowed the two breeds to mix. The result of that is a litter of puppies that need a good home. They are Feist/Beagle mixes and free to good homes and will be ready to go to those new homes in a week. If the family can't find homes for the dogs they are going to the pound. And that's horrible. I don't know exactly how many puppies are available, I'll be getting that information within the next couple of days. Nor do I have pictures yet. If I didn't live in an apartment, I would take one but I can't especially since I already have 2. I'm willing to travel to deliver them if any of you are interested. I'm afraid I have to limit that travel to PA, WV, MD, OH, VA but I'm certainly willing to negotiate and/or meet someone half way between wherever and here if you are interested.
The family is sick about the idea that they might have to take these pups to the pound, but they simply can't handle the dogs they have plus their ailing father. I'm even willing to foster one of the little ones for a short time. If you are interested, please let me know. As soon as I have any more info I'll post it here, but if you are even remotely interested please contact me. Thanks for reading this everyone.
