I need... a money clip!
on: December 13, 2009, 10:55:55 PM
I've been using the LA Wallet due to how thin it is and ease of access. Only problem is there's no bill compartment! No problem, I can use a money clip. BUT WAIT! I don't have any... so I've been using smaller, compact knives to serve the purpose (e.g. CRKT Ashworth Turtle, Boker Plus Subcom F).

Fine, but then I start to feel a little weird about it. Going to liquor stores and pulling out a knife is kind of a strange feeling... not to mention the potential legal problems a "concealed" knife may cause. Also, knives generally don't have a substantial enough clip to hold more than a couple bills. :P

Conclusion: I need a regular money clip!

What options are out there? I know titanium money clips are nice but too expensive... what clips do you favor if you use any at all? >_>

Would a 74mm Victorinox money clip not do the job?

http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Money+Clip+Tool

Or is that too small to handle the huge wad of cash you carry ;)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I think Gadget Guy posted the Viper money clip some time ago.  If I recall, it was about $60 at the time and I passed simply because if I bought one I'd have no further need of a money clip!

Still, I have been rethinking it lately....

The regular non-viper version is only $25! But it doesn't have cool cutouts and it holds about half. =(

A bit tempting but still, at $25 plus shipping...

There are/where a whole bunch going really cheaply on ebay (vic money clip)  they were all
going around 5 or 6 dollars.  I put a bid on one a couple of days ago but lost.  At the price
they were going for I wasn't going any higher on it.
They seem like a nice addition for edc.  When not stuffed full of $$ you can always clip them
as a left hand carry to your pocket.

Not really - in my opinion it's one on the best MT's evermade. Built like a tank ant has never failed me...

I'm used to carrying it in my pocket and it comes inhandy on a daily basis.

You are still in university right Froggie? Well in most lecture halls, there are little metal plates on the backs of the chairs. Bring an MT (Which you should anyway ;)) and pull on off. Bend it in half, and you got a money clip... that cost all of nothing :tu:

... Except the cost of tuition! :ahhh

Okay, I know you said no knife, but..

I use my Gerber EAB and it is a terrific money clip. Compact, useful, no need to fret over trashing the blade on dirty work cutting jobs.

And it holds plenty of bills or only a few. Gerber touts it as a money clip, and it is indeed well suited.

Froggie I don't know how you would feel about this, but I saw a money clip today that I'd be happy to pick up and send to you if you are interested.  As corny as it sounds, it's one of the Slim clips (or something like that) that are advertised on TV.  I'm not sure about the quality, but they are fairly inexpensive and don't look half bad.  I don't carry a money clip so I have no way of judging this particular item, but I'd be happy to pick it up and send it to you.  :D  Here's a link:

Thinking about this thread, I enquired about a clip I saw in Selfridges today. It was 250 quid, so I told them I didn't like the colour  :P
