Middle Eastern Knife
on: January 08, 2010, 03:28:25 PM
Anyone familiar with this style of knife?  My ex-girlfriend got this for me when her dad took her to Jordan to visit family about 20 years ago.  Supposedly, the handle is made of human bone.  I'd love to translate the sheath if anyone is able.  This is not a touristy display piece.  To her understanding, this was a handmade knife that was actually put to use and not just to look at.  The blade is incredibly sharp and will slice a piece of paper in half, though I have no idea what it is made of.

Thanks.  I've always loved this knife, but never really knew where to ask about it.  Since coming here, I've been amazed at the font of knowledge here, so figured I'd try my luck!

Looks to be a classic Arabian jambiya, to me. Use your google-fu. :P

And there is no way that is "human bone".
