What is your on the go food preparation knife?
on: January 17, 2010, 06:51:09 PM
I have been searching for a good food preparation knife for when I'm on the go. Something to keep in my pack that I only use for food prep like making sandwiches, etc... I just bought a knife that I think is going to be perfect and here it is:

I'll post my own pictures just as soon as I get a chance.  :tu:  I paid something like $18 for this one which I think is a great deal for a knife of this quality.

Farmer or OHT.  The saw can be useful in some settings.

Very similar idea to you GG.  I use my Vic 108mm Solo (without the paracord seen in the pic).

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

For a designated food prep knife I recommend using Camellia Oil for lubrication after cleaning. It comes from Japan, it's is edible and it has the lubricating properties and rust resistance of any other oil. The only down side is the price, a bit on the expensive side.

p.s. my edc blade can be used in food prep in a pitch (after a good washing) for the reason mentioned above.

I'll check that out, thanks!   I really wanted a dedicated food knife and not one that I've used for other things.  :tu:

I usually use a Cadet.  Peeling apples and other fruits.  Opening packages of stuff and occasionally cutting up a sandwich.  Oh, I sliced a cucumber for a sandwich once.  Great little knife and people don't freak when you sit there and peel something with it.  :)

If I prepped a lot of food and needed one in my bag at all times this is what I would get.
