Still not sold on the whole chisel grind thing But they do look superb
Ive had chisel grinds before and they seem to bind more when cutting thick stuff. A flat grind or convex will out cut them any day.
OT: where can I download one of those rulers?
Funny thing is 2 years ago it was supposed to be the standard for us to do reviews.

My new Spyderco Stretch with ZDP-189 blade steel will kick the crap out of a Emerson in a pure cutting test, but I want that Emerson with me when I hit the streets. It really is like comparing apples to oranges here.

For any of you who have ever used a correctly sharpened wood chisel for woodworking, you know what a chisel can do. Although a knife is not a chisel, those properties, when applied to a knife grind have almost magical effect. A chisel ground knife, being beveled, (ground) on one side only, possesses greater strength, (due to increased cross sectional mass) and they cut with an ease not found on any other type of blade. This is because there is no parasitic drag produced by the flat side when cutting --- no drag points. On top of that, they are much easier to sharpen --- you only have to sharpen one side.Me again: I personally love a chisel grind, but my favorite is still a good old flat grind. My next project is to send a CQC-7 to Tom Krein and have him put a flat grind on the knife. That would be ultra cool!

They suck! I have knives ground as such, have used them, never will again. It's the reason I don't own and won't own a Emerson. And I have to say, Mr. Emerson is wrong. I'll put any of his knives up against a slew of knives in my collection that aren't Chisel Ground and prove his "they cut with an ease not found on any other type of blade" wrong. There is a reason why most manufacturers of knives......be they tacticals, slipjoints, fixed blades, friction folders, lockbacks, Kitchen Cutlery, etc, etc.......don't use Chisel Grinds. They make for mediocre cutters. They are great at scraping though.2xTap
