my first Leatherman!
on: February 09, 2010, 10:21:36 AM
 :multi: :drink:

Hello everyone! My name is Brian and I am officially addicted to Leatherman MTs! I recently purchased some Leathermans for myself and I love em. Going to be purchasing the Swiss Tool X next. I have used my Dads LM tools before but have never got one for myself. I did buy one for my godfather though! He dropped it in the sea on the first day...

Glad to see a community of MTheads. Lots to learn on this forum for me!

I first bought a BO Leatherman Wave but it still has not arrived (gad zooks - more then 3 weeks wait  :mail:), then I bought a Leatherman Surge... It broke on the first day (frame snapped by itself)... Which really discouraged me. I just picked up a Leatherman Wave today. Everything works fine on it. The outer tools sometimes just skim the body when closing though (anyone else have this problem? any fix?). It depends on which way to bolts are turned... Sucks, but I guess I can live with it. I ordered a Charge TTi from gad zooks and will be waiting for it to arrive... Hopefully before the new version comes out  :twak: And hopefully it will work 100% :pok:

I didn't manage to get any quality photos of the surge. Just some iPhone photos but I just snapped some photos of my lovely Wave. Heres my first contribution! :multi:

Hopefully one day I will reown the Surge and I will have better luck next time. I should have taken some pictures for memory but forgot.

Anyways let me know what you guys think or if you have any advice for the Wave problem.

Thanks everyone
B

Another LM Wave!  brianch, you got the bundled Monarch light with the Wave? How's the quality of it? Heard stories, just wish to confirm. And if you get the Swisstool, would you give your take on how it and the Wave measure up against each other? :D

And before I forget, welcome! :)

Sure I'll let you know when I get the SwissTool X in... Anyone know of a better place to order then Gad Zooks? I'd like to receive my stuff in a normal time manner. Not months at a time... I dont have a normal non-bundle wave to compare it to. But I would hope that the normal wave and bundle wave would be the same...  :-\

Thanks for the welcome  :salute:

I am ready to hit the button on :

1. Black Oxide Wave (mines never arrived, going to reorder)
2. XE6
3. Squirt P4
4. Swiss Tool X

I tried Tim but he is all out for now. Anyone else have other recommendations for sellers? I am planning to buy all of these at once.

Thanks again for the help Dave. Let's hope he replies faster then gad zooks. It usually takes a week for gad zooks to reply to questions...

:ahhh  I had bought a new Supertool in 1993. I still have it and use it quite often. I love the quality and the usefulness of this tool. I broke a screwdriver blade off and sent it in to get it repaired. They replaced everything that was worn and returned it in three weeks. I also have a PST and a Micra tool that I use. I have had the Micra tool longer than the Supertool and I keep it on a keychain in my pocket.   :multi: Prof. Gadget
