I have folders from 3 different manufacturers. I'm surprised how different the feel between them is.
Spyderco, CRKT and Leatherman. All 3 are liner locks. Spyderco has the typical hole but the CRKT and Leatherman have thumbscrews. The Leatherman has a finger flipper too.
Subjectively, the Spyderco just slightly outperforms the CRKT. The opening is so smooth, it is almost effortless. The initial force required to start opening the blade is almost imperceptible. The lock up point is definite, but has no resistance before hitting it.
The CRKT knife is very smooth opening, but there is a two stage "click" at the lock point. Not irritating, but there's definitely a degree of resistance before the lock up.
OTOH, the Leatherman has a slight rub to it. Not bad, just not the same smooth motion. Clearly more utilitarian in its feel.
For the record, the knives I'm comparing are: Spyderco Resue Jr. Spyderco Captain, CRKT folding Razel and Leatherman Crater C33B
