Just dyed my yellow Ladybug as well.  Looks great!  I used less red and didn't keep it in so long.  It looks like it's much more orangey than the first pictured, but looks just the way I wanted it.

Thanks for the suggestion!

No problem, but I can't take credit for this since the idea and recipe came from others. Glad it worked out to your liking, now we want pics :pok: :D

While I was in the dying mode. I took the PE H1 LB and put it in some tan dye. It now looks like this.

They both turned out darker than I`d planned and the pic makes them look darker yet. I got a little to much red in the mix and got a much darker shade with a red tint to it. It reminds me of a pumpkin thats been in the sun to long. I thinking of just soaking it in a straight scarlet red solution.    The other only soaked for 3+ minutes in the tan solution and was getting way to dark brown so I took it out and soaked it in hot water to draw some of the dye out of it and it is now more of a carmel color. It is lighter in color than my brown FFG Endura. Its been and interesting experiment.    :D

Glad you're liking the results. I got my Dark Green Rit dye in today, waiting for the rest of supplies to get here. All I'm saying is that the Spidie is bigger than a Ladybug :P

Dying my yeller Salt I and Pac Salt has crossed mind a time or two today. But I`ll need to get the solutions fine tuned better first.

Would like to see the results if you decide to do it. I'm not sure what color I'll end up with myself, but it should be a shade of green :D

These look great.

Any particular reason you've all gone for orange though?

Dave that's a good question and one I do not have a satisfactory answer for.

No problem. I think the formula needs to be revised a bit, less of a red added or a bigger container needs to be used to dilute the dye so the color is more orangy and not as red. I used a coffee mug to do my dyeing

I like orange and wanted an orange Ladybug.

I actually wanted an orange one to begin with, but yellow was all I found.  Plus, it's easy to make yellow orange and it adds a bit of personalization.

Yellow frn handles on the H1 knives actually make sense since it reflects light more than other colors in the deep sea water. These knives were made for heavy marine/diving use and the color choice had a reason for it. Orange is a great outdoor/safety color and has a personal preference for myself. If/when funds allow I'll be getting another yellow H1 LB and intend on keeping it that way.

On further reflection on this orange knife thing . I guess I just wanted my knife to remind me of all my rusty Leathermans.          :D
