Case EZ Open Copperhead Knife
on: April 24, 2010, 03:39:24 PM
Just picked up one of these ($25.00) it is in good condition.

I have read and heard that this is a RARE Case knife and that it was only made a few years.

Mine is a 1999 with a wharncliff master blade.

Does anyone know what years they made these and how rare is this really. Thanks Swiss Man
  :D

I posted this exact topic in KF Case section and I decided since a lot of us float back and forth
between forum maybe someone here would have an answer. :pok:

Well from what information I am able to dig up is that it is rare enough that it's not appearing on some of the price guides I looked at. It really was only produced for a few years and I can't find anything price wise, everything keeps saying how rare it is.

Thanks guys   I found it a couple places but nothing but how RARE it is.

I also found that this is known as a 49W (wharncliff).  I sent Case an email but you know me I want answers NOW!!!!

She is a nice looking knife like I said before the only scratches I see are light ones on the bolster, never been sharpened but I don't have the box. ;)

That's a very nice looking knife.  I know nothing about Case knives, sorry.  Really need to get one some day, perhaps one of the scout pattern ones
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Yep, something like that :tu:  I'm not going to go peruse their web site though... for that way lies a pile of financial pain :D

I'll just keep my eyes open in the trade section.

If you really want to buy a fantastic Case knife I would steer you towards a Trapper or Copperhead type knife. The reason is since we are so used to a nice SAK which is a Scout type knife in general you will only want to compare it with your genuine SAK's and I  usually find we miss some of the functions of an SAK in comparison. So I say its best to get a knife with no comparison to an SAK. Case makes a fantastic product and the fit and finish are usually some of the best in the world. I like some of their single blade folding knives too.
