I popped down to my local "Trash and Treasure Market" today and a knackered old SAK caught my eye. There does not seem to be any thing special about it except it says that it is made in Japan.

The bloke selling the knife wanted $7.00 for it but I beat him down to $5.00

I know it is not an overly exciting little tool but I was hoping it may have been made by the same manufacturer of another knife I have.

This knife was my Dads first pocet knife, it was given to him by his Grandfather when he was 4.

I don't have them on hand to take pictures of, but I recently picked up a 1929 copy of Plato's works for $1 and a 108mm Victorinox GAK in excellent condition, minus some slight scale wear, with a Buck sheath for $20. :D

I live in Australia. The Japanese SAK is very rough but you can never have enough knives can you?

It looks like it will clean up well and I like the fact it has brass rivets and a 'bail' if that's the right word for the loop at the end  :tu:

You can never have too many SAKs multitools etc etc  :-[  ::)  :D

I picked up a couple of knives today the big one is made by Richardson in Sheffield
says on the blade        STAINLESS - INOX - ROSTFREI   :)
and just to be sure                SURGICAL STEEL              :D

And a lovely pair of money boxes (I kidded myself that they were for my Nephew )
they are made from metal, about 6” tall and I think are very nice

I can play again:

SOG Twitch II NNB - $5
Gerber Infinity Ultra (2) NIB- $15/each
Boker Barlow NIB - $30 (dunno if this was a steal; it's pretty though :D)
and good prices on a Leatherman Mini Tool and a SOG Powerlock. :D

I think I came out well. :D

I also ran across an old first generation Gerber MP600 BN, but the price was too much ($15) for a tool that was somewhat damaged and was rough in opening and closing, and the guy also had a used PST II for another $15, which I also passed on... plus, I was out of money. :/

I try. :D  I found quite a few nice discontinued-pattern Case knives; all of which were outside my price range.  I like my G10 Peanuts well enough, anyway, to shy away from their MOP Tuxedo knives. :D

Nice finds Sparky :tu:

I do like the look of that butchers knife! Looks like a "ready to take on the world" knife  :D :D
Sheffield made knives aren't always pretty, and I consider many to be "semi-finished"  >:D, but they certainly do the job  :salute:

.... but then again, I am biased .....  :P

There is a something good about using a tool made in your home town.
(... even if some of my Sheffield made pocket knives are a bit poo - but don't tell anyone!!!!!)

They need a bit of a clean and a good sharpen before I can cut anything (including myself   :ahhh ) with them, I don't know what people do with them  ::)

The Staniforth feels really nice in my hand and I guess its the oldest one of the three
so its my favorite at the moment  :salute:

Well I went to my local car boot sale for the first time in months and came away a very happy camper.  Found a stall holder with a small collection of Gerber MP400's.  Most had some kind of issue with them; broken plier tips, mangled blades, gunked up with some foul looking stuff etc, but I did find one in good condition that only needed a light drop of oil to bring back into excellent working order.  Not bad for a tenner. :tu:

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

My local one is in the basement of a multi-story car park so it can go on all year round.  Not exactly a cheery place though. ::)
