On the weekend I picked up 6 of these can peircer bottle openers. At first they didn't seem all that special but once I read the stamping on them, Young Atom Melb Aust, I had to have them. I think I will keep 1 and give the others away as bonuses during trades. A bit of fun for a few dollars.

They are a bit cool mate  8) 8) 8).
Yep I would of grabbed them as well , Aussie manufacturing is not what it was  :( :( :( :(.
I love buying Aussie made stuff but it is becoming mighty hard now days  :( :(.

I nabbed a very old Aussie made leather strop, branded COO-EE at my last car boot sale & it has a kangaroo imprint on it for good measure  :D :D :D. Cooee is a old fashioned Aussie saying/call.

I picked up a small Chinese Buck copy and a small Victorinox kitchen knife over the weekend
The folder is being tidied up at the moment and I used the Victorinox to prepare my curry this evening (still needs a bit of a sharpen but is surprisingly good to use)  :tu:

A very wet car boot this morning  :D

A stick chopper  ;)

A billhook with free added woodworm  ::)

Some footprints and two types of adjustable wrenches  :tu:

A nice pair of well used but not abused Marples chisels  :)

And 1 SAK  :tu: …... but I got home and can't find it  I think it must be dropped in the mud

Next too nothing at my one this morning  :( :( :(.
I saw a nice small 'Shelham Australia' made in Japan  ??? :D :D lockback but $30  :ahhh :ahhh.
I was thinking $10 beat him down to $8.... crazy price.

Thought about a old crow bar for $5 but passed  :D :D.

I wish the guy who sold old hammers & axes would come back. He was there the first time I went but he was packing up & has not come back since  :( :( :(

Everything was cheap this morning as it was pissing down  :D ::)

Hammers? There was a guy at mine with loads of rusty old ball peen hammers (nice an cheap but I think I have enough)   :-\

The bill hook is a bit cleaner now, its made by and stamped
A & F Parkes & Co ltd (Birmingham)
and with the 'BIPED' & 'feet' stamp on the side
The blade has a finger choil which looks original to me but might have been modified
Now I have to decide whether or not to make a handle or buy one

I found my newest SAK  :D  well its a PAK as its made in Poland by Gerlach

Its had a hard life as the spring is missing from the scissors, the file is very rusted and the fish scaler has a prong missing

I can't tell if this is a good quality knife or a cheapy   :-\  any  ideas? (I'm thinking cheap at the moment)

Tony that bill hook looks quite the blade.   :)  Dont know any thing about the PAK.

 :salute:

The bill hooks blade was in really good condition, not sharp but no dings on the cutting edge  (apart from lots of rust and woodworm) so it should be easy to sharpen after I've done the handle  :)

The stick chopper is nice and sharp now (this might be a mistake as I still have to make the handle  ::)  )

And the chisels are looking a bit sharper (not chippy sharp but sparky sharp just ready to find a nail )

I've had a couple of the Gerlachs.  Neither were what you call quality :(  They're of mild interest to SAK collectors as it nice to see other companies take on the SAK design but I wouldn't want to actually use one.

Nice billhook though :tu:

I got home before the rain today :D

I picked up this...

What did I buy?

It appears to have a stubby wick in the big cylinder surrounded by a flat wick. The brass thing fits into the little tube which is attached to the side of the big one.

you know the brass doofer, is it solid or tube? Also does the end of it on the buckle shaped style stick out further than the coil?
