Exactly right. But having a cut off disc disintegrate while using it can be mildly exciting:rofl:

I had one explode and hit my glasses. Thankfully, I always wear polycarbonate lenses.

I knew I could count on you two  :salute:
Now all we need is Alf to join us (he likes me messing about with fire  :D )

Valtock 2000 automatic blowlamp
Much swearing and a few extra scratches on the chrome later
Guys if you work on one of these don't take the wick out of the little feed pipe if you don't have to  :poh:

All fueled up Doesn't look too bad now,  :tu:

Meths over everything, saw dust on the floor, a garage full of flammable's, a lighter and an unknown blowlamp, what could possibly go wrong

Apart from loosing a few hairs on the back of my hand (you can't see burning meths  ::) ) it went 'ok' but it was a small flame, about an inch long

Think it needs more looking in to

Interesting little thread here  :tu:

That is such a clever and neat little thing. It is thermal feedback through the tube that speeds the gases up right? Really nice find sir!!

I guess that is what you would call it, there's a wick in the little pipe that brings meths up the tube to the 'burner nozzle'

Thanks Guys,  :D I'm really pleased with myself for spotting it in a box of smurf and knowing what it was  :-[
Oh and it was only a pound  :D

They are on ebay for not a lot of money if anyone was looking for one

Now I'm truly jealous Tony, I've been gagging for one of those for years!  :like: :like: :like:

One of the best managers (and mentor in his case) I ever had was at my 2nd job, he had one of those blow torches that apparently came from a motorbike maintenance kit.......?

Congrats on an excellent find!

It wouldn't work, he'd end up buying his own stuff and wondering why he hadn't made any money

This morning an oldish Guy had boxes of knives

About 50 fixed blades, a lot of Made in Sheffield scout knives etc  :ahhh
An about 100 folders  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

I only bought a 1945 BAK  with a broken back spring
And the bottom folder has those nasty plastic stag scales but nice carbon blade with a good snap  :tu:

My parents are in Edinburgh for the weekend, and dad happened to come across some sort of car boot sale-alike rambling around the town near Edinburgh Castle.
I finally understand a stark difference between car boot sales here and there(meaning UK): In one Scottish boot sale, my dad saw more knives than I've seen in several months of Irish boot sales.  :ahhh :ahhh

Quite poor results here too.
Haven't spotted a single pocket knife for the last 3 months...
Same with watches... that's been 2 years.
