Let me build you the SAK of your dreams
on: June 30, 2010, 07:51:54 AM
It's pretty simple. Tell me what you want in your dream 91mm SAK and I will build it. All new parts. I already have a combo tool. Unless you want the Cybertool bit driver or pliers, I can do whatever you want for $55 shipped US. $60 shipped anywhere else. Cost will be more if you need those parts. Sorry, less than seven layers only. Includes new red plus scales. So PM me with what you want.

If you want a Scientist, it would be better to get it from here. It's already built.

I believe Ben has already sold that one.  There is a NIB original here though ;)

Great price Ari, good luck :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Thanks. Just a couple of things that have come up. I don't have an LED module, so if you want a SAK with one, it will be an extra charge. Sorry. :( Same goes with the electronic scales.

Thats a fantastic offer.  I stink at modding but love the idea of customizing.....now the planning begins.

Well Neil has a great deal on a Cybertool right now, so it would be an extra $60. You would also get Ruby scales if you wanted them.

And Sazabi has an even better deal. The extra cost would be around $35. Sapphire scales.

Ben X sold his Scientist, so I'm willing to build one.
This is a great chance people to get something you'll EDC for life. You want a Yeoman with with file and saw? You got it. Want a Scientist with the ruler? Yours for just $55.
Also, I can't seem to sell my MiniChamp, so I'll mod it for free. Just buy my very good condition MiniChamp for $16 plus shipping, and I will take out whatever you want. Think the cuticle pusher is stupid and you only need one blade on a SAK? I'll handle it. Want a bladeless model for school? No problem.
Wait, there's more. If you buy both the dream 91mm SAK and the dream 58mm SAK, I'll knock a dollar off my price. Yes, $70 for two custom SAKs shipped US. :o

I picture you in marketing/sales rather than production :P. That would be a heck of a deal though  Now that new SAK prices have gone up significantly, it's getting harder and harder to mod on a budget.

Great price
Thats a fantastic offer.

Thanks guys!

OK I just saw Neil's Yeoman Auction ended for $74.34 plus $10 shipping. (I'm not saying Neil set a high price, the price was determined by the market.) I realize that is for a stock Yeoman, but if you are looking for a user Yeoman but don't want to pay the big bucks, this is your chance. Plus you don't have to get a Yeoman, you can get exactly what you want.

Edit: I forgot the whole reason I posted this. I made some soft touch like scales from Sidhartha's excellent idea. They aren't plus scales but they do have the pin hole. They are a no cost option for your mod.

Bump! Also, I should mention that I can do backspring tools on the file and saw (like the chisel and the small screwdriver) layers, something you won't see on stock small Vics.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to fit the Cybertool bit driver into where the corkscrew normally is? I think my favorite SAK Would be a 2 layer knife with scissors (1st layer), blade and cap lifter (2nd layer), and bit driver + hook on the back.

Would the magnifying glass be old (8x), or new (5x).  Also how much extra would this mod be?
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,10010.0.html

Both questions out of curiosity. Also, out of curiosity, are you only doing one 91 mm or is this like a service?
Make a tool idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

First off, I've finished one, so this is now closed. I won't be doing any more mods for a while (maybe December). But I'll answer some questions:

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to fit the Cybertool bit driver into where the corkscrew normally is?

I would guess that would be pretty impossible. The bit driver is a lot bigger than the corkscrew. Also, the attachment for the bit driver is far thicker than the attachment for the corkscrew. Not to mention the pin size is different.

Would the magnifying glass be old (8x), or new (5x).

It would have been the new glass.

Also, out of curiosity, are you only doing one 91 mm or is this like a service?

Just one for now, which is already done. I might do this as a service next summer, with a small run (1 or 2) this winter. Maybe. Possibly. Sort of. If it works out.
