Those BO Waves look fantastic, especially when they’re well worn. Hmm, might be the excuse I need to upgrade to a Wave+.

Just spotted what looked like a BO wave in the 2015 film Tomb Raider.  :woohoo:

Nice catch :salute: :like:

The BO versions look nice in both second generation and third generation Plus model ;)

So yes, you need one :pok: :D

Now that's not a problem when I carry almost any of my SAKs but when I carry a MT I don't want to have a sak too. A Vic might seem redundant, but I might take a dedicated knife or two :D

I wasn't aware that was a problem!
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Boomer Sooner!

A carry a SAK with a MT everyday of the year unless a challenge prohibits it

 ;) :D

The modded Core is for my work EDC (loaded in a Nite Ize Pock-its XL). That leaves me in need of a MT for my off work EDC (also loaded in a Nite Ize Pock-its XL). My choices are OG Super Tool, an unused Rebar, or this used Wave. I love the OG Super Tool, but it is in good shape and completes my Super Tool collection. The Rebar is perfect for my off work EDC, but I have an aversion to using a new Leatherman. So, that leaves me with the dirty, used Wave that came along with the black ES4 that I bought some weeks ago.

I will probably leave my mark on this MT also.

Reassembled and it feels so good!

Spent a 2 or 3 hours this morning cleaning my Wave and putting it back together. Save for a broken eyeglass bit, the MT is now in great shape.

Now you are taking my words out of context  :D
The problem for me is not having the pin when I need it, I wouldn’t call a problem carrying a SAK and Leatherman. I just prefer not to do it, for my use it makes more sense if I carry an MT and want something to back it up to use a folder with just a blade. Depending on where I’m going it can differ from various Case and Buck models to a Spyderco, Ontario Rat or lately - a Benchmade Bailout in m4.

Thanks!

I have been spending the afternoon alternating between watching football and reading the mod forum for ideas on Wave modifications. I have a couple of ideas in my head  :D

I have two Wave Original, two Wave and one Wave+ models. New models are too tight to use, so somehow I like more those old ones, plier are not so smooth etc.

I think I know what you mean. While the old style pliers could be too loose sometimes, the newer ones can be too tight.
With the new pliers I usually apply some oil to the pivot and work them in.

Still have settle on the internal tools, and I may swap out a blade or two.

I think an awl could be a reasonable replacement for the original scissors?

Yes, my thought also. In fact, I have an awl ready to be installed. I do need to decided what to do about the small bit holder (keep it or replace it).

The scissors (and the awl) came from a Chinese MT discussed in this thread: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,87426.msg2245966.html#msg2245966

It was a J.O.B. to install the scissors. The positioning of the spring to ensure that there is tension caused me some trouble. I think it is probably easier to install the Surge scissors in the Wave, but I wanted to use these scissors.

Yes it is. I carried that MT for 6 weeks earlier this year and thought it was good for $30. Then I got a Super Tool  and the addiction took over

Here is my modded Wave:

I ended up using a Surge awl instead of the Chinese awl simply because it was better.

For the scissor it is actually easier to use a dremel to cut and adjust while it is fitted. There alot of clearance to do it with the scissor sitting in the Wave's pivot. The scissors works really well.  :tu:
