How do you date Case knives?

Those numbers you quoted are model numbers. The date codes are on the front tang stamp and this page will help you with that.http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/wr_case/about_case_knives/date_identification.php

Sweet...the one I have should be 1940-1964 then!  Any idea what type of handle?  I'd have to lean toward bone, though it looks like the delrin in the pics .  But I think I read on that site that delrin didnt get introduced till the 70's right?

Usually the model number code will give you the material the scales are made of. Go to that other page where they break down the model number and you should find out. Just looking at it I would guess bone.

Yeah I did that but for the 6 series there are 3 choices.  Bone, Delrin and laminated wood, but I agree...think its bone.  Thanks for the awesome links!

First you ask their parents for permission to take their son or daughter out.

Second you clean out your car and wash behind your ears and pick them up at the front door....
