I bought this mod, but I'm not sure what the long, sort of oval shaped, hole is used for?  Any ideas?

Looks like some sort of wrench functions.  The long one looks like at type of adjustable wrench that gains purchase as it is slid to tightly grasp its target.

That's what I was thinking, but generally those have little stair-stepped grip-type notches on the inside of the cutout.

:like:

Like the Ambassador & Alox SAKs.

I will have to take a closer look at the Ambassador.

My continued exposure to Alox SAKs via this forum has affected me.  I started out with a single purchase of the Pioneer X with the belief that it would be my only Alox purchase.  Next came a Cadet, then a Pioneer and an Electrician.  I am thinking that I should add a Farmer.  I suspect that I may succumb to the attraction of different colors other than the silver alox SAKs.  My Pioneer is black and I'm thinking that I will need a red and blue alox sample.

Good stuff!

I think it is a shackle key tool FB - That fits different key sizes - and as NCJ says - you slide it up till it grips

ALM is a member here who makes spectacular mods that even rival Syph ;)
But he has not posted for a while
I just checked and it looks like the links to his pics are all kaputt which is a real shame :(

The Pioneer X got its name from the X made by the open scissors!

Did anyone noticed this, too?!

 :pok:

Yep - Same naming convention for the Swisstools !!  :pok:  :tu:   :D

I've wanted one of his mods but haven't been able to justify the means yet.

Put a Huntsman in the pocket today and it helped me hunt some fresh game.  It was thrilling.

Agree, enjoy the Huntsman too.

Hey FB - A 'PS'  in case you did not know

The image across from ALM on the scales will be a White Eagle - which is one of the national emblems of Poland.

ALM is Polish - As you may have guessed  ;)

Finally got my hands on a Camper w/inlay... or the "real" one as I've categorized it in El brain.  Was a meet-you-in-the-parkling lot type of situation.  This was one of the finds among others.  It was in pretty rough shape but tools seemed good...

Took a little time but this El Camper is alive!!!  :ahhh

Looks like the slot for shackles, like in a marlin spike knife for riggers (sailing).

Is it just me or do the translucent scales seem to break a little easier than the standard cellidor?
