Thanks again to @Frailer for hipping me to this Classic with the finer strap changing tool.  I have one with the blunter/rounder tool, and it isn’t quite right for the job.    This one really works great.

Nice pick-up, nakken! :tu:

While Victorinox does not make a Tinker with wood scales, you can get close with a wood-scaled Spartan.

Red Alox Farmer X.

I was also expecting a red old cross Farmer from Japan, but FedEx UK sent it back to Tokyo as a prohibited item. Sayonara.

I won an eBay auction for a vintage Wenger Highlander (I think) with the old dog leg can opener and a bail.

The seller is away for a while, so it will be a few weeks before I get it, but I really can't complain given how little I paid for it.

I got this Executive 81 today.  You can see it's a little bigger than the black classic.  The file on it is (surprisingly) longer than the file on the Evo 14.  These are a little pricey but I like 'em.

Picked up a pre hook Super Tinker on eBay.  Upon further inspection, it had endured more abuse than I want in a used knife.  The tip of the cap lifter and the can opener were marred up, but 5 min of work with a file cleaned up the abused tools nicely.  A deep cleaning, new scales, and sharpened blades have brought this knife back to life.  Years ago, I wouldn’t carry this knife because of the damage, but I’ve learned that 25 year old used SAKs are simply used tools.    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

RangerGrip 61.  This is a two layer 130mm Delemont with a one hand opening main blade, openers, corkscrew and awl.

The blade unlock button is the Victorinox cross on the scale.  IMO this is the best unlock method of the three the company now produces.  Easily unlocked and very safe.

The one handed opening requires some serious thumb strength (or possibly just a bigger hand?).  I am a guitar player and have pretty good thumb strength but this requires force in a direction I am not accustomed to.  You have to be pretty careful because there is a tendency for your right hand fingers to get in the line of the blade as you attempt to thumb the blade up and if you falter there is a tendency for the blade to come down on those fingers and cut them!  So it requires a bit of practice and caution. Of course you can just use two hands to open it and there is no problem.

In other respects a very robust, solid and formidable knife and I like it more than I expected.

Been considering getting either a Fisherman or an Angler for a bit. So, in true MTO fashion... I've got both. Despite the fact I normally prefer the corkscrew, I'll probably be carrying the Fisherman for a bit due to the hook and scaler. Again, blame MTO as I'm looking around for reasons to use them both.

Also bought, but not pictured here, is a Flamingo Party Alox Classic. Which will lead me to an upcoming post...

I've found a new Wenger Evo Hunter 505. It's quite rare and I couldn't resist. It has a small serrated skinning blade and a locking blade.
