My latest SAK. A classic Soldier Knife marked "E". Dated between 1908-1913. Fiber scales. All tools operatives and great shape:

Model follows the very first one, the original Soldier. Here it is my numbered replica too:

We need a "What did you just miss out on." thread... I thought I was going to pick up a Mauser at a bargain price... But it doubled in the last couple of minutes.

Ye Olde Wenger.  Acquired in trade for some modding work.
Compressed fibre scales and liner on one side was warped but it's not pretty enough to be kept original so I tore it down and flattened/straightened the bent bits and reassembled it.

There might be fancy new fangled super-steels out these days, but that old steel takes a beautiful polish. The Awl has come up like a mirror. Blades and openers have been left with a fine sanded texture and some of the original patina.

The old girl is now pretty enough to get a place in the EDC rotation on days when I know I won't be doing any tough and dirty work.

Holy crap that looks killer, hard to believe it is what I sent you.  You should put the pics in the original thread as before and after!

Not in the greatest condition but still a rare find. You don't see many of the old golden pioneers around. (not talking about the Bugnard ones)

Seems like it was a bit inspired by the Mercator logo.

Globi the Parrot is genuine Swiss also. There have been a few Victorinox knives with various images of Globi in sports mode. This Classic has white nylon scales with him on a snowboard.

Thanks to Thomas I can say I have a collection of exactly 5 vintagesque SAKs now. 3 Alox Soldiers, an Ecoline Huntsman with full tang and now  :D this older Vic Camper as it came back from the hospital. I'm seriously liking it. :woohoo: Thomas threw in a extra SAK too, a  lovely Silvertech Climber  :climber:

Very nice...I had one of those with a keyring, I gave it to my sister who is a florist.
Wish I had another ::)

I've just recieved a Blue Alox Farmer I got in trade over on British Blades :tu:
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I was in London today and was able to pop along to the flagship store in Bond Street. I recommend a visit if you are in the area and have the opportunity.

I picked up two new SAKs - a Compact and a blue Cadet from the '5 colours' limited edition, ie the ones without the key ring. I was originally looking at the Super Tinker or Climber, but for some reason the Compact isn't that easy to get elsewhere here in the UK (at least that's how it appears to me), so I went for that instead on the assumption that it'd be easier to get one of the others at a later date.

One additional thing I picked up was a flyer... They have a 'build your own knife' service! For £35, you get to build a Spartan, and can have it engraved. I have left it strategically placed as a hint for my wonderful wife , what with Fathers Day approaching :D.

That is great you were able to get one. I ordered 2 or 3 knives but they were all singles that I did not have in my collection.  :salute:

The Harvester is nice knife for the collection but I would rather EDC a Farmer. :tu:
