The Number Of Posts Per Page In A Thread

Just wondering if many people stick the forum defaults 

For example; the number of posts per page in a thread is 15 as a default. In the Got Paracord that equals 44 pages. I've changed the settting to 100 posts per page and it is down to 7 pages 

This is one of the first things I do if joining a forum is play about with the settings. Is there a disadvantage to having the max amount shown? If it is a pic heavy thread it does take 'a bit' longer for the pics to come through but it's worth it

Another small problem is when someone says 'check the post on page 6', I don't know where I am lol

I just put it on 100 (no need to save bandwidth with a 100mbps connection), but it doesn't work on all threads. Anyone know why not?

I put it on 50 posts per page, I'm just used to it from another forum I visit.
