There's been an Iron Man movie out for a while. I rented it a few months ago, but never got a chance to watch it. :P

I've been an Iron Man fan since I was a kid.  This looks pretty good.  Glad to see the original armor make an appearance.

I'm not a fan of Robert Downey Jr., but I hope he's good in this.

Looks like Jim Rhodes  is in the picture too.  Does this mean  a War Machine appearance sometime down the road?    Maybe in the sequel?

There's an Iron Man cartoon out- I bought it months ago.  This is a live action movie, not a cartoon.

RDJ is good in some stuff, but I think (at least from the trailer) that he looks like a good choice for the role.

Jim Rhodes and War Machine will probably be in some sequel since that whole mess starts when Tony Stark is too drunk to often to be Iron Man and Rhodey takes over.  Admittedly there was more to it than that, but you can't help but notice the fact that Stark just happens to have a portable, fully stocked bar while visiting Iraq (or Afghanistan or whatever) in that clip.  In film terms, it wouldn't be there if there wasn't a reason to have it there.

Cool just checked it out, I love the new remakes of our old favorites. As long as they don't ruin them and only make them better and more exciting, bring 'em on!

Watched the Ironman movie yesterday, it was great! can't wait for the sequel to see IM's armory, especially the war machine check out this site form more of shellhead's armory:

http://www.ironmanarmory.com/IMarmory1.html

As usual there are differences to the comic's and the movie but they really tried to do there best to stay true to the comics storyline. But I think its all good.

My wife and I saw it last week and we thought it was really great.  Ordinarily I don't like it when they mess with characters, but I didn't mind too much that Jarvis was a computer- I thought it was a neat twist, and with a Batman movie being released about the same time, and everyone already being familiar with Alfred, well it seemed like a decent idea- better than cutting poor Jarvis out, which would have been a mistake!  I think they made Jim Rhodes into too much of a whiny little candy ass, but that's not the end of the world- I'm sure when he gets the War Machine armor he'll toughen up somewhat!

I will say that after seeing The Big Lebowski, I have a hard time seeing "The Dude" do anything serious!

The Dude

Obadiah Stane

Jeff Bridges is an excellent actor, and he pulled it off well.  It's just that, after doing a movie like The Big Lebowski, the actor is often identified by his role, and that was a brilliant film!

Back to Iron Man, I thought it was very well made- other than a few details (Middle Eastern terrorists rather than Viet Cong) to make it timely, I have to say that the storyline was about as perfect as it could be.  I wasn't too happy when Tony Stark announces that he's Iron Man, and I imagine they'll spend much of the next movie backpedaling to convince the public that he was joking, but that's not the end of the world.

By the way, make sure you stick around and watch all the credits- apparently Samuel L Jackson makes an appearance as Col. Nick Fury.  I missed that part so I can't say for sure...  :(

You know, Robert Downey Jr has almost always impressed me as an actor.  He's always been pretty understated though, and no one really took notice of him until the cocaine, jail, rehab, more cocaine, more jail, more heroine more rehab etc.  I have to say that I felt a considerable loss when it looked like he wasn't going to survive most of it, and if he did that he'd spend most of the rest of his life behind bars.

The man is an amazing actor and I think he really shone in this movie.  He played Tony Stark perfectly, perhaps better than anyone else has done with any other comic book type hero since Adam West did Batman or Lou Ferrigno did the Hulk.

There's two kinds of actors in my mind- the type who takes a role and makes it their own, and the type that plays the role so perfectly that the actor seems to merge with the character.  There are only a few folks that I think fit the second category- Micheal Keaton (who was a better Batman than Adam West, but let's face it, we will all think of Adam's "ConFOUND it, you dastardly evil-doer!" when we think of the Dynamic Duo! :D), Sir Anthony Hopkins, Patrick Stewart... but I think Robert Downey Jr is coming dangerously close to this club with his portrayal of Iron Man.

Let's face it, Daredevil and the Hulk weren't bad because of the bad writing (although that certainly didn't help!), it was mostly because the leads, Eric Bana and Ben Affleck wanted the character and movie to be about them, not about the hero they were playing.

Superman Returns was really only good because the actor playing Superman seemed to be channeling the real Superman, Christopher Reeve, while Kevin Spacey seemed to be doing a great job of pretending he was Gene Hackman.

But I'm not going into the Superman thing, because if I do I might have to say something about how odd I think it is that the first Superman, George Reeves (no relation to Christopher!) somehow managed to shoot himself in the head from three feet away, and miss the first 17 times....   ::)

I took my 9yr old boy to see it and apart from one or two wee jumps at the fight scenes he loved it and wasn't in the least upset there were kids younger than him there is no sexual content what so ever and the violence levels are not  too explicit except for one scene where the bad guys are about to do some ethnic cleansing in a village needless to say ironman saves the day
