I don't have fingernails.  Makes it a pain in the donkey to get the tools out.  Grrrr..... >:(

Were you born without them, or do you remove them voluntarily with your teeth?

I would suggest that a SAK makes one consider and maintain one of the more useful features of fingers... nails. Since being reintroduced to SAKs myself, I now take better care of mine.

In the factory, they use a small tool to open the tools :) They should add such a tool to a small SAK that you can use to open all your other SAKs with :D

That SAK-opener-SAK should be dog bone shaped of course :D

Maybe you could attach something like a Key Sergeant to it?

http://www.keyringopener.com/buy-keyring-opener-retail.html

They now make them with lights and cutters built in so can have many uses  :tu:

The original serves its purpose well (John (GG) sent me one to play with :tu: ) but I think the new ones look much more useful.

I too biye my nails (bad human), therefor a SAK can be hard for me to use.  If I want to really use my SAK then I have got to figure out a way to stop biting my nails and then keep from doing it again.

+1 on the key sergeant. I had crappy nails thin break all the time. I started taking supplement Biotin now i have finger nails that grow fast and are much stronger.

As someone who used to bite his nails I'm dismayed to see my 10 yo son bite his clean down... However, I know what a hard habit that can be to break.

But, I'll tell you - if you've been a long-time biter and you can manage to lay off of it and grow them out they turn out to be very useful.  You'll find yourself tapping them on table-tops and generally appreciating them.  Plus, your fingers look a lot better with them grown to a reasonable length.

Not like you need a reason to buy a new toy but maybe it would help to use one as a goal...  once the nails get grown out (no biting for say 60 days, only trimming) you get to celebrate with a nice new knife!

Stop biting them and buy one of these:

Come on! This is a win-win! The perfect excuse to buy more tools!

I don't have one of these, but this general idea is why I settled on a Cadet for my EDC knife, the file.  I bit my nails so much, it was actually hurting my teeth, so my dentist said, "no more..."  :twak:

At least now I have an excuse to use my knife all the time (the nail file is probably my most used tool) ;)

I might. Shipping from their site is less than $1, so overall the tools are quite cheap. The question is if I need all the different versions or just the newest one.

Been there, and just LOVE to tap them so I get on everyone nervs!!  >:D >:D

As a matter of fact, I still byte, but just one, left hand pinkie (is that how you call smallest one oposite to thumb??)....

My son byte his fingernails ocasionally, but I have found nail polish (no color, no shiny reflection, you just wont notice it's there) with horrible taste, and it helps!!  ;)

I bite my nails off completely, I know its a terrible habit but one I've been unable to kick since I was a kid. I just use the tweezers on my SAK to get the other tools out  :D

I used to be a hardcore nail biter as a kid, but when I got my first SAK I actually stopped biting my right thumbnail- at least not as often, because that was the nail I needed to open the tools!  Then when I was in high school I stopped biting them almost overnight when a girlfriend of mine commented that my fingers were gross.  I pretty well had to agree and actually quit cold turkey, although I don't really think there was ever any actual decision to do it.  I just did it.

I actually had a nail file that I EDC'ed for a few years until I got my first Wenger with the nail file (Wenger Adventurer) and I pretty well used that exclusively.  I prefer Wenger's nail file to the Victorinox file, and none of the others even come close.

Some things are worth giving up your bad habits for.  A SAK was mine!

I just trim the ol claws every now and then with my Swisstool Spirit scissors, the Victorinox Site even has that listed as a suggested use for them.
Just keep the thumb nail a tad longer.

Whats with all the nail biters here?  :pok:
