My New MKII Forces Kukri
on: October 31, 2010, 07:24:39 PM
A very distinctive shaped package arrived at my house last week. Imagine a kukri wrapped in brown paper  :D

Have you guessed what it is yet?

That's right a MKII Forces Kukri as owned by the legendary Mike, Lord Of The Spammers  :tu:  My wife thinks I have totally lost it; she was shocked when the Mora 2000 arrived but this one didn't just take the biscuit, it smashed it into a million bits  :ahhh

I am very pleased with my purchase. I had originally planned to get the BSI II from Torablades but they appear to be having supply problems  :-\ Step forward Mike and his superior kukri  :D

Between work and the miserable weather I haven't been able to field test this yet. I did chop a pumpkin down to size before binning it last; very satisfying  :tu:

Here's some non-action shots  :D

If anyone would like to contribute some sharpening tips it would be gratefully received  :salute:

The knife is sharp right now but it will need sharpened at some point :)

I use a sharpmaker to sharpen mine BTW.  Use the edges of the rods.

Nice one, did you remember to let it draw blood when you unsheated it? You have to do that by the old traditions  :ahhh thats why there is a small knife with it, so you can cut your hand if you unsheath it without being in a situation where its appropriate to chop at someone else.

Got some new pics of my kukri :D

I cleaned up and polished the sheath and blade; I'm hoping there will be a noted difference.

I meant to say; it tasted its first blood today while in my possession  :ahhh

Sadly not an intruder but me  :-[ Totally my fault as well  ::) I lifted it totally wrong with my hand on the blade side, it slipped out cut me at the bottom of my small finger  :o Lots of blood but a nice clean cut :D

TBH mostly I find myself explaining what it is if someone visits and it happens to be out. Why don't they get it?
The plan is to take it out with me when camping. Probably got it the wrong side of the summer.
It's a bugger to fit in my Fatboy :D

So what did you use you polish it up?  :pok:

To polish and clean?

For the blade I used Peek metal polish and some Silvo polish along with a microfibre cloth  :tu:

For the sheath and lace bits I used good old Kiwi shoe polish :D I took the lace bits off and gave them a dose of Kiwi, tricky but it worked well  :tu:
