I keep looking at it.I dont think that I will get one,but it is pretty neat.I wonder why it does not have a Can opener?

I was wondering about that one myself.  Then I though that it may be unnecessary in such a barebones desgn just to save a little weight and bulk.

I think that you are correct.Besides, the market that they are aiming for has no need for a can opener anyways.
When "Margo and Todd" go out into the "Wilds" they prefer Mountain House or other fine freeze dried cuisine. To them chowing down on an "MRE" is their idea of "Roughing it".

I know this year when I was out Deer Scaring, err a I mean Deer Hunting my afternoon repasts consisted of a sandwhich and a can of Chunky Soup.No I know that the fine people at Cambells now equip their cans with pull tabs
I knew I was ready if one broke prior to "Full Soup Access",which one did.

Note---No Young Urban Proffesionals were present or injured during this blatant SAK Photo Op. LOL Dtrain :climber: :multi:

So many cans have pull tops these days that can openers are becoming less & less needed.

I know I am bieng silly when I say this----Please forgive me in advance for my attempts at jockularity and humor.

With the way things are in Today's Society,Leatherman might want to put the following disclaimer on the packaging.

We are not responsible for the user's inability to open a can on which the pull tab has failed.

But,you are right about the pull tabs.I remebr it starting up pretty heavy with the higher end, brand recoginized items first when I was still out over the road, then down to the less recognized, budget brands.I think it has been at leat a year since I have seen a can of Raviolis or Chunky Soup without a Pull Tab.

Maybe we need a multipurpose replacement for the can opener which is no longer called a can opener but instead an all-purpose opener.  It could be touted as a clamshell opener even since everyone has to deal with those.

Maybe you could sharpen the corner of a combitool on a V-nox. But I have used pliers to open a can when pull tab broke. It worked really well.

Good idea. Really good idea. It would make more sense than a can opener to most people nowadays.

Maybe something like the SOG serrated line cutter blade would work? It would need the tip of the "hook" sharpened though, in order to initially pierce the clamshell plastic.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

It's pretty quiet around here.  Other folks must be out doing Friday afternoon stuff.  I won't be around tonight, so I hope folks ask their questions before then if they have any.

Tom how well does the pocket clip hold the tool in place with a pair of jeans?

The pocket clip holds very well - a little better than the Charge actually.  It's very slim.
