I think I'd prefer it without the Carabiner
.
I think I would also. It does work really well as a bottle opener thought. At least the one on the folders do.

I'd prefer a can opener over a bottle opener. It's quite easy to open a bottle with a lot of things. The pliers on most multi-tools will do it. Opening cans are a bit tougher.

I don't think I'd ever use a can opener on a multi.  Seems like too much effort to me.

It just takes practice. Of course I HATE the can opener my wife has so if I'm opening a can the multi-tool or SAK I have on me at the time gets the job done.

I am actually incapable of using an electric can opener.  My parents had them when I was growing up and I could either never get the can to stay in it, or when I did, the can would pop out halfway through.  Since striking out on my own years ago I have owned a variety of manual can openers, and many I find are good for a little while, but eventually either break or fall apart.  SAKs and multis don't have that problem, and I always have them handy!

I also have tried "nicer" manual can openers like this one:

They are a little easier than a SAK or multi, but also tend to leave razor sharp edges.  I know many of them advertise that they don't nowadays, but until my current one breaks I won't bother replacing it.  This is the kind I have now:

You need a multitool or a SAK with a fold-out can opener like that one... :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Ra-Ra, I love the old manual Sak (or more specifically, BAK, for my allegiance) Can openers, but I am a modern man, with microfibre shirts and a manicure, so I use a spinny-bladey sort.

There are two general types - one that cuts vertically - into the lid.
and one that cuts horizontally, into the side of the can.

The latter is, in addition to for some reason being the more popular, also the devil's work and should be expunged from this world.
Both advertise "No Sharp Edges" - and both lie. One leaves sharp edges on the remaining lid, and one leaves sharp edges on the remaining can.

Erh, carry on, go about your business.
Skeletool eh?

I've used these kind all my life.  They last for a few years then one of the rivets either pops or gets too loose.  I lubricate the moving parts with veggie oil when it starts to seize up or squeak.

I've used SAK can openers from time to time, just to see how they worked.

In the kitchen I use the SAK can opener the most.  I can open a can with that just as fast as one of the manual twisty thingys.

I know that when I have no choice but to "Help out" in the kitchen I use the Can opener on my SAK's too. When My Spouse asks me"Why are You using that, when we have a perfectly good can opener" I tell her"It's a Man thing, and I am getting my moneys worth out of the knife".I dont think that I will buy one but the Skeletool looks like a pretty neat option in the world of MultiTools, seems perfect for the occasional user or the Wife's purse.

Cabela's seems to get the earliest shipments from LM.  As soon as they have them in stock, then you can be sure the rest are not far behind.  Does the timing of the actual release have anything to do with the Shot Show?  Seems kind of coincidental doesn't it?  ::)

Cabelas always gets preferential treatment from Leatherman.  In fact, if it weren't for Cabelas, there may not be a multitool industry today.  Cabelas was the first to actually purchase and market Tim Leatherman's strange new contraption, and as such reap the rewards from what turned out to be an unprecedented success.

As for the SHOT show timing, well I can't comment on that really, as they were announced at the last SHOT show (or was it the BLADE Show?) and since there's little for actual sale at the shows, I really can't see it.

Still, I've been known to be wrong from time to time...

Yep, there were teaser pictures at Shot Show 2007, almost one full year ago. Makes me wonder...have they spent the entire year tweaking the design, or have they been actually producing them by the millions, waiting until there are enough to fill orders to all their dealers?

I found out amazon has changeable numbers on accounts; I've read about how they have different prices for different people/areas;
so I guess it wouldn't be a stretch to think they'd do that with times/dates too! All done to get your dough and make you think you
have a limited time! beware...

Well the wait may be over. I just ordered a Skeletool - not the CX from an Amazon partner and it's showing in stock. Should be here next week. Delivery is scheduled for the 24th but we'll see....
