I thought this was their issued knife now?
http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/803594/

Your right its no longer issued . But the Vic in your link isnt its replacement . The replacement is an enclosed blade cutter , its just a strap/belt cutter , sorry but I cant find a pic at the moment but when I do I will post it . Were not sure but we think that the Vic one may go in the pilots survival kit

I've brought this thread back to life as I saw one of these knives on T.V the other night . Theres a new program on channel 5 on Tuesday nights called Highland Emergancy . Its all about rescues in Scotland with the RAF Air Sea rescue Seakings , Coastguard , Mountain rescue etc . Now I know for a fact the RAF no longer use them as back in May I got rather close to a RAF Winchman  ( thats close as in near and not as in relationship  ::) ) . But the Coastguard heli crews do use them . Not sure But I think they are std issue where as before I thought maybe they were EX RAF crew who still had them but they all seem to have them . They still manufacture the knife in Sheffield .

This is the only topic I can find about this knife. I got 2 pilots knives from somebody who got them from a flea market (without the scabards). I haven't seen any replica's myself so i can't compare. Could you guy's help me on verifying these knifes, I would appreciate that a lot.

The marks are hard to take a good photo off. it say's George Gibberson, Sheffield England, on the other side 22C/2966.

Thanks in advance!

If Dunc says they are real I'm inclined to believe him!

I must confess , that particular shape would make for a really nice skinner   :tu:
