Leatherman Flashlight?

Saw this on another forum and thought you guys might like to know about it. Do you think LM makes them or just puts there name on them? Any of you guys ever see a similar light with a different company name on it? I don't know if I like Leatherman putting there name on stuff that they don't make. Maybe it's just me. If it's good quality maybe.

It includes SIX batteries? It doesn't look like it could hold more than two or three...why include so many?

Looks like a decent light, but then again I'm not that into lights

I'm not a flashlight guru by any means, but I don't think I've ever seen that light before. If they made it themselves I'd be pumped!

Hi, I've seen some rumors and pictures of the Leatherman Monarch 500 and I had a couple of questions. I'd be glad for any answers you can give me!
-What would be the MSRP?
-Is it manufactured by Leatherman?
-What is the country of Manufacture?
-Should I expect more lights from Leatherman?
Depending on some of these answers, I could be very excited about this!

It's probably made by someone else. Flashlights these days are pretty high tech and it's best to leave their manufacture to the professionals. Victorinox flashlights for example are made by Emissive Energy Corp, the company that also cranks out lights for Inova.

Frankly, I'd be more concerned about the quality if Leatherman tried to manufacture them. Not to take shots at Leatherman's quality by any means, but flashlights are a whole different animal. If they were to do it in house, they'd probably have to buy out a flashlight manufacturer and re-name them.

Another thought I just had: I thought (possibly wrongly) that Mag had a kinda monopoly on the adjustable beam thing... Am I wrong?

I don't think it's possible to patent an adjustable beam, just the method they use to adjust the beam.

I think mainly it's because (in my opinion) adjustable beams suck...

Got more info on this flashlight. It is private labelled for Leatherman in China. I am told it is an exclusive for Costco.

I've been following a thread over on CPF about it... Sounds like its a good like for $30, of course with a few drawbacks here and there like any other light. I also think it will stay at Costco, and that doesn't really bother me. I'd still like to see LM put together some good flashlights, but maybe something a little more original and I'd love to see it made in Portland. (A guy can dream, right

)

Saw it at Costco tonight. Almost soiled myself when I saw the Leatherman logo. Then I looked on the back and it said China. Back on the shelf. Is nothing sacred?

Not much anymore, unfortunately.

I would have a hard time owning a light that I had to feed with 6! AAAs anyway.

Well, it says it comes with 6 AAAs in the package. I can't imagine that they're packaging it with extras.

I just did some research on CPF... It turns out that the light runs on 3AAA and the package includes spares.

I still don't like the idea of 3AAA in a light...

Hmmm...stainless steel body eh? That seems like a good thing, provided it doesn't make the whole light too heavy.
