Just got a Spyderco Tenacious...

And I'm very impressed with it; easily the best made Chinese made knife I've ever owned. The fit and finish are all excellent, and the blade profile and size are pretty much perfect for EDC. It's pretty light, decent steel, excellently designed and manufactured handle, and it's got the best/strongest liner lock I've ever seen.
If anyone is looking for a good EDC knife that won't break the bank, and that you won't feel bad about thrashing or loosing, check one of these out. I'm very pleased with mine and am now jonesing for its big brother, the Resilience.
Just wanted to let you guys know.

I'll keep that in mind... I've been looking at their rescue knives now actually... Not that I have any kind of job where it would be useful mind you, just been thinking that they seem very well designed compared to other knives like that, and that having one would to stash in the glove box would be a good idea...
I did have a Spyderco years ago, when they first came out, don't remember what model it was, but it wasn't real expensive and was a nice little knife. It got stolen off my work bench in the bike shop I worked at when I was in college. Didn't really have the $ to get another one after that, and pretty much forgot out them until now. But yeah, I've been looking at their pricier models the last few days and drooling...

It really is a gateway knife. I picked up a persistence and liked it so much, I had to get a delica. Spydercos are really nice.

Great EDC. And for Perry the Platypus there is the tiny version of it, the Ambitious

Heya Sean, Delica FFG (flat ground), with FRN handles. It's on it's way. I got a used Salt 1 in trade, and its amazing feel convinced me that I "needed" a Delica. ALso have a couple mini grips coming because I got a griptillian in trade...
That said, ther persistence is such a solid knife, with great feel. It's just a 3" Tenacious.

Mike, very good start into Spyderco's and Benchmades! I'm sure you'll like them all.
Very good value those. I'd like to get a mini-grip sometime, I do have a couple of
the Larger Griptilians and carry them occasionally.

LOL... I'm glad you got the reference; Phineas and Ferb is one of my son's favorite shows.
I saw the ambitious too, and was thinking maybe I should get one of those and the Resilience; both ends of the scale, small one for EDC, big one for camping, hiking, hunting, etc. Of course, then I'd have to get a Persistence to have the whole set!
As if flashlights weren't costing me enough money...

If the Tenacious is really the best Chinese made knife you've ever handled you should try a SanRenMu, one of the new knives from Kershaw's Chinese line (Nerve , OD-2, Hawk, Chill, Half Ton, Oso Sweet, Clash, Scamp) or CRKT's Chinese line (Drifter, Pazoda 1/2, Shrimp, Lake 111 1/2).
Chinese makers are more than capable of making some incredibly good products if someone keeps their feet to the fire on quality control. Just like Japan circa 30 years ago, Chinese manufacturing capability is catching up very, very quickly.
Also, it probably doesn't hurt that the US knife companies that went in to the China during the late 90s and early 2000s for manufacturing essentially underwrote all of the training and capital investment.

I'll look into the SanRenMu's and see what they have. I was looking at a SOG Aegis because I like the leaf shape of the blade, but the blade also has a little notch at the back of it before it merges with the base of the blade, which I really like. I think it would make sharpening it down to the bottom of the blade much easier because you don't have the edge going right up to the bottom section. Not sure if that makes sense, but I hope it does...
It's all kind of moot though... I've got to be careful about buying new/more anything right now because my wife will kill me if I do. (And probably with any new knife I might have just bought!)
