Question for the in house LEO's
on: November 27, 2007, 03:34:30 AM
I am looking for a new cuff case for my S&W M100 cuffs.  I want a lower profile case than the big honking all leather case that I have now.  Most of my current cases and holsters are of the Uncle Mike's variety, and that's probably where I'll end up going, but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else had any suggestions?  The uniform is black and my cuffs are black oxide so an open faced case is acceptable as long as it's also very secure.  I don't want to buy another set of cuffs and I sure as heck don't want to wonder where they are when I need them.

A quick OT here if you don't mind: all of the local policemen have switched to big zip-ties instead of cuffs. Have you considered them? (Seems like they would be lighter/easier to carry)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I've never much cared for zips- when I first tried them (mind you that was some time ago) they bit into suspects hands and were too easy for the jackasses to tighten and cut the circulation off to their hands then claim abuse with blue fists as evidence.  They were also fairly awkward since the ends had to be long enough to make loops big enough for some ham fisted individuals, which meant that when tightened they were all over the place.  I also found them awkward to use when the adrenalin is pumping, as it usually is when you have to use them.

Like I said, it's been over ten years (damn I'm old!) since I last used them- they may be better now, but I'm partial to nice hunks of carbon steel and chains!

just a thought, ever think of your favorite sheath/kydex maker? they could be custom made for your cuffs, open at the top, with a simple strap to lock them in and to keep them from falling out,

but with a simple unhook, easy to remove and use (for them bad girls!) and with a loop or small tek-loc, low profile and attached to your belt or leg or even arm. I would guess not to expensive being kydex. just an idea.

I've already got a message off to Eric at On/Scene Tactical to see what he can do for me, but I thought I'd see what else was out there and what people suggested.

oh man, Eric is one of the best! I don't have any of his creations but I've seen the pics and have friends who have them, beauti-ous! He gave me a quote on a sweet F1 sheath, I need to take him up on it!

Lately I've been getting my sheaths from Rainwalker, another great maker and a great guy. http://rainwalker15.googlepages.com/index.html

I like the model 24 cuff case, and it's available in black too....

Oddly enough I hadn't considered Bianchi because I always associate them more with holsters than anything else.
