What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen?
on: August 19, 2011, 11:41:28 AM
The office ghost got me thinking, I've never seen a ghost but I have seen a few strange things. The strangest was a capybara behind the swimming pool of an apartment complex I worked at in a Kansas City suburb about 12 years ago. I knew what it was the moment I saw it and I wasn't mistaking another animal for one because it doesn't really look like any other animal. It stood about 20 yards behind the pool at the edge of the woods chewing on something for about 10 minuets in broad daylight. That was enough time to go get the manager and have her take a look and she thought it might be a beaver but when I showed her pictures of a capybara she said that's definitely what it was. They live in South America, way down south like Venezuela and Colombia so the only thing I can figure is that it was an escaped or released exotic pet.

Then there was the time that some friends and I were driving back from the lake in the middle of the night and came up on 6 clowns walking down the highway about 20 miles from the middle of nowhere. There was seriously nothing going on anywhere in a 50 mile radius that would require 1 clown let alone 6. They were all pretty respectable looking circus/birthday party clowns, not the shoot-on-sight Captain Spaulding type clowns (no offense, captain spaulding) and they just waved at us as we drove by so I don't think they were up to no good but it sure was weird.

Sleep easy my friend, those are only a myth!

This is maybe in a different vein, but I thought it was pretty weird.

About a year ago I had stopped into the grocery store on the other side of the city (near where I was working) and since it was such a nice day I had the top down on the Jeep.  I parked next to a Miata, also with the top down, assuming that if anyone was going to steal something out of a car they'd probably go for the Miata first!  :P

I went in and got lunch, then when I got back to the Jeep, these two attractive women walked up to the Miata.  As I was getting my seatbelt on I watched the driver get into the Miata while the passenger just stood beside the car.  The driver laughed and said "You didn't lock it did you?"

The passenger replies "Yeah, it's a habit!" then continues to wait for the driver to reach over and unlock the door for her!

Good thing she was cute because she sure as hell isn't making it far on those brains!

You can read what I am willing to divulge in this past thread. It isn't all of it, but enough to get the sense of it...

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,23538.0.html

Other than that, it is healthy to be very skeptical. I am skeptical by nature. I do know however from personal experiences that there are things that are not so easily explained using science, and I am a science teacher.

I have never heard of Jedward...but thanks. Now I won't be able to sleep at night after viewing one of their youtube videos.  :ahhh

I was at a friend's house when I was 14, he said the place might be haunted, he'd heard voices conversing in the next room when it was empty, etc. That night we started hearing footsteps walking all around us for several hours. Scared the smurf out of us.
...do I believe it was a ghost? no, not when there could be some other more parsimonious explanation. I believed it at the time anyway, so that's what is wierd. (I do respect other people's more spectacular ghost experiences though)

...that thing about the 1 SAK only bogeyman was really scary,  :-\, lets not try to freak each other out too much  :D

Thank you for the read. I don't know if I believe in ghosts or not, but I believe I'm glad to not have had those experiences.

Too bad that older thread got locked. Glad to see it can't be repeated.

OK, everyone will have to decide for themselves if this is weird or not.

At my office the dress code is business casual so I wear mostly polo style golf shirts and slacks. I have several of these shirts that are identical except for the color. There is one particular shirt, light sage in color, that turns itself inside out every time it is laundered. EVERY-SINGLE-TIME. The other shirts of this same type don't do this at all. I cannot even come up with a theory of WHY that one shirt insists on doing this.

Any ideas? Weird or not weird?

Well call me weird then. When I was younger I saw an unexplained beast jump across the road. Then it was chasing me like toying around. I made it home and looked back seeing eyes starring at me. It was the weirdest feeling. Several other people in the town has seen this beast but not many like to talk about it.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

This was no cat. Had the body of a human and the top half was wolf like. Scared the smurf out of me.
