Some great pics there! And those rice terraces must have taken some doing! :o

So what do you reckon they used ?  Gerber , Vic , Leatherman or SOG

In that humidity!...got to be Victorinox :)

Having nothing to do yesterday I tagged along with my traveling saleswoman friend and ended up in Dothan, Alabama. Where they have a M48 and an M60 tank on display near an old Alabama National Guard Post.

Yup, that was one of the greater flaws with the M48/M60 series tanks. Big chassis and big turret made it a fairly large target but this was generally overshadowed in combat by effective use of combined arms and air support.

The M60 had a height of 10.5 feet to the top of the turret. This is a stark contrast to the Soviet tanks of the era with their small squat turrets. The T-72 had a height of 7.5 feet and the M60 replacement, the M1 Abrams has a height of 7.7 feet. Apparently the M60 was pretty comfortable for the crew though, I guess all that height and exposure does have one advantage.

Yeah the were pretty roomy inside :) and unlike there Soviet equivalent, there was no autoloader trying to feed bits of the gunner into the breach :o

But if you look at the M60/48 you can definatly see the design lineage going back to the Shermans and Pershings :), The Soviets on the other hand seemed to have tried to reinvent the wheel with there T64-T72, although the T80 is supposed to be a very creditable tank :)

The Russian tank designers are known not to give much emphasis on tank men comfort.

Between daylight and twilight.

Summer is almost gone and there will be fewer sunset pics at the beach.

The widest and the longest river in the Philippines, the Cagayan River. It stretches for 446 kilometers.

I took these pics last May 5, 2008 when I was in Isabela province. I was standing at the middle of the bridge and took this pic.

The visible portion in this pic is only half of the total lenght of the bridge.

The newly harvested rice fields beside the Cagayan River.
