By the way, to anyone considering buying the Rebar with a Leather sheath:  The leather sheath that comes with it is CRAP.  C-R-A-P.  Mine stretched out the first day when it caught a chair as I got up and it only got worse from there.  I have no faith that it is even as sturdy as the Blast/fuse sheaths, it feels much cheaper.  Even if you hate nylon I would go with nylon.  At least you know your tool won't fall off your belt.

Try the new Wave leather sheath. The one with only one side pocket. I bought a couple of them a few months ago for Waves, and didn't like them at all. They fit the Wave far too tightly IMO, and they were just lying in a box. I thought the new Rebar leather sheath was a just barely, and those flat pancake sheaths that come with them are just cheap junk.  Enter the Wave sheath. It fits the Rebar perfectly, and gives you the option of carrying a AAA flashlight, a minii Sharpie, etc. I'll try to post some pics today, but it seems a very good fit and solution to me.

The sheath is even worse than the Blast's one? :ahhh  How the mighty have fallen.  Most of us know the fantastic quality of the LM sheaths for the old school tools; PST, Pulse, Supertool etc. those sheaths are a joy to own and I'm truly saddened to hear the the standards are getting even worse.

I just got mine in the mail.  I love this tool.  I held it up to all of the other ones.  It is almost identical in size to the Pulse.

which is great news as the Pulse is the perfect sized Leatherman IMO. 8)

Sad but true.  I was shocked at the low quality of the sheath.  I have always defended the Blast sheath, because I have used them for years and, yes, they wear out, but they aren't as bad as people make them out to be.  The Rebar sheath might as well be made of lunchmeat, that's what it feels like.

Can anyone that owns the rebar with the craptastic leather sheath post a pic of it for me?

I am definitely going to buy one of these as soon as I see them in my local stores, but I was kind of wondering what kind of sheath was included first. What style of nylon sheath is included?

Thanks much.

I bought the Rebar with the nylon sheath.  It is nothing special, but servicable.  There is a video of it on a youtube review.  Gave up on Leatherman pleather sheaths years ago.  Nylon is the way to go.

Aww, no date codes in the handles. :(

(Image removed from quote.)

Mine has date codes  :P but they are so faint I can only see them with a magnifying glass. 0312 on both handles.

Did you try to fit the Rebar pliers to the Surge? Did it fit without modding the safety's, being a smaller plier head than the ST300.

Maybe I've just overlooked it, but I can't find the date codes in my Rebar; the QC heads for the castings, yes, but no date codes.

I never did it because the pivots don't line up. The distance when closed interfere.

Interesting disassembly tools, how did you make them?  Good job by the way.  I love taking things apart too.

+1
I haven't seen those Disassembly tools before.

+2 :)

..leaving date stamps off is a sad news - but I can see that it means one procedure less on production line (saves some $)

I could understand that. However, my Rebar has "B01" stamped inside of both handles, so no cost-cutting here.

Oh... thank you for the info. Any idea what can I use instead for Rebar?
So far I used PST + Squirt combo to disassemble old-style SuperTool, PST and PST II, but these had knurled screws fully accessible while Rebar has handles kind of bulged around them (not sure how to say it properly in English). Any tips?

Locking pliers is what I hear most around here. At least one to hold one side, the other maybe with normal pliers, or another locking pliers? Don't forget to heat up the screws, to melt the loctite.
