Hi mates.
The German TV station Pro7, well known for the dumbest "sciene" magazines ever (Galileo), had a Victorinox vs Leatherman challenge today. A Leatherman Wave vs. a Vic (no name mentioned, I guess it is a Huntsman)
First round: Opening blade, can opener and screwdriver. Winner: Vic 2:1
Second round: Speed test. Wood cutting, can opening, paper cutting using the scissors: Winner: LM 2:1 (Vic won the scissors test)
Third round: unscrew a Philips screw, a bolt and cutting a seatbelt: Who would have guessed, LM won both screw tests (Vic had no Philips screwdriver and no pliers) Vic won seatbelt cutting. So, 2:1 for LM
Destruction test: Drop from 7m height on concrete: LM won, Vic lost a scale and the tweezers. Final: Test to crush the tools. Vic broke at 8 tons of pressure, LM took 40 tons (it did not break, but was unable to open anymore, so both tools were dead).
Well, I am impressed how stupid a "test" can be. IF I wanted to compare a SAK vs a LM I would have used a SAK with Philips and Screwdriver against the Wave. This test was made to let LM win it, just not fair. I like LM, but in a fair test "Vic Spirit vs LM Wave" or maybe even "Vic Classic vs LM Style" or "Vic Swiss Champ vs Juice" I´m unable to guess the winner in advance. Galileo is dumb TV for dumb people. But: funny to see! My next test is: Leatherman Wave vs Surefire Backup. Which is brighter?
