Garrett Wade Handy Household Tool Kit
on: November 24, 2011, 12:20:57 AM
Yesterday I was looking for some info about an antique tool at Garret Wade's and found this Handy Household Toolkit

I think is a good offer for less than 30 bucks specially since it can possible make one great Christmas gift (or more if separated)

It includes a:

- Monkey Fist Brass Key Holder
- Key Shaped Pocket Knife
- Swiss*Tech Screwzall
- LED Key Chain Security Light

Interesting that they would use a Screwzall then use a cheap piece of crap key knife. Why not go the extra mile and add in a UtiliKey and add more versatility?

I don't know about that flashlight- I have seen many of them at various stores and my experience has taught me that they either work forever or work six times then die, and the first five were people playing with them while waiting in line.  I think one would be better served with a Photon or Fauxton.

The Monkey Fist is an interesting attachment- I wonder if they include that as a keychain or for some nefarious purpose- either way I'd bet you could get it and some better components from other forum members for the same amount of money or less.

I agree with you, Grant; a Photon I, Vic Classic SD, and a Screw-Z-All can all three be purchased for less than $30, yet still offer better quality than the GW version.  Only exception would be if you added a Monkey Fist, though that'd still break about even, I think.

It's interesting to note that some people really love those key knives' older brothers (i.e. those made decades ago); other people consider them crap. *shrugs*
