<PHOTO> Review of KERSHAW Fire Select $10 at Walmart
on: December 07, 2011, 01:00:14 AM
This is the Fire Select that as of 2 days ago was on sale at Walmart for the sick price of just $10. ($35 msrp). Some of you will not like the combo blade, and some will not like that it's imported. However, did I say it was $10??? Also, it's totally solid and hair popping sharp. The pictured model had standard 1/4" bits which I replaced. I didn't like the black bits it comes with. The driver is also magnetic and has two stops depending on your leverage needs. The blade is a liner lock with no play at all. the bit holders are spring loaded and do snap shut by themselves... very nice. This is a Grant & Gavin Hawk design and has been out 2 years. It took $10 at Walmart for me to discover it even exists. It's a large knife... blade at 3 3/8" so this is not a toy. BUT it's baby blue and that makes it seem a little more friendly :) My only criticism is the notch in the handle where the bit driver tip rests when closed. It SCREAMS to be a seat belt cutter, but alas... here are my pix. Get one before you miss out!

Nice, I like it, as well I hadn't known it existed either before a few weeks ago I saw someone
had it posted somewhere.  I thought it might have been an old discontinued Kershaw.
Nice thing about kershaw knives is they usually don't come dull!

Nice pics John :salute: Stunning that they can sell these for only $10. I may just have to stop in at the Wally and pick myself up four or five for brother-in-law gifts. :)

It's a great knife, especially for the money.  I'd have been happy with it if I'd paid three times as much for it.  The Select Fire (kind of a dumb name though) is one hell of a great bargain, and it's an amazingly well put together knife/tool.

I've been drooling over them since I first saw them a couple of years ago at SHOT:

Another thing i forgot to mention... The grip is great on this design. Nice coil in front, texturing on the handle and the bit storage openings are nice too. Hard to describe.

The nearest Walmart does not have them.

Is the pocket clip reversible for left pocket carry?    I cannot be sure from the photos.   Thanks.

Walmart seems to do that when they stop carry something, unlike some other store that will hang onto 5 years old stuff still selling at MSRP.

Stack out of the blue wanted to send me one of these. I figured we could exchange addresses and he could get a like package in return...sort of a Kris Cringle. I just got his package today, and it contained a pair of these.

I am having a hard time thinking these sold for only 10 bucks as they are very solid. Either way, I am very happy to receive these. Far nicer in person than any photo can tell.

Thanks Stack.   :salute:

They did sell for $10... It's the only thing that got me inside a walmart recently. I started to doubt it when a clerk couldn't even find them. But, i found a few on my own. They sold with another kershaw at $10 each. Very few left a couple weeks ago

The clerk was worthless... And i was about to give up. They were shoved in a tiny spot on one aisle next to nothing similar. Virtually hidden, and only a few. I know i walked past it at least twice and missed them
