Are all Juice scissors this way?
on: January 04, 2012, 05:49:06 AM
I just received a EDIT: NEW in the clam shell Juice XE6 in the mail.
I am the first owner!
My only complaint is that the scissors tips don't engage each other when the lever is pushed all the way down.

Is this common?

EDIT: OK I take it this is not common. Will Leatherman honor their warranty for an item bought off of ebay?

Thanks,

Jeffrey

I think the previous owner had too much fun with a stone/sander. Lower half in your pic is smaller than usual and the removed material should have made the two halves meet.

From the picture I would have to agree.

I broke it out of the clam shell myself so that is not the case.

One more thing, just curious. Near the tip of each half there should be some very mild serrations, does the smaller half has that?

Yes, I can see some VERY small serrations just a bit back from the tip on both sides.
If you wouldn't have mentioned them I would have never noticed them.

Hmmm..... Interesting. Seems like a factory defect. Depending on were you bought it it might be easier to return it for a new one through them. If not im sure Leatherman would be more than happy to replace it for you.  :tu:

My used juice LMs scissors close fine, so it must be a factory defect.

What happens with use is that they get a bit loose, but nothing like what you show.

I bought it off eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/310368904486?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_726wt_1037
for what I thought was a pretty good deal shipped.
I'm going to call Leatherman in the morning and I hope their customer service lives up to their reputation.

To be honest I was not very happy with the Wave that I owned but I thought I would give Leatherman one more chance. If this doesn't turn out well I will go back to Victorinox.

So that means the grinding at factory was messed up and it slipped QC, any grinding after would remove those.

Just send it back and I'm sure it'll be replaced/fixed.

I had the same thing a year ago with an XE6, definitely a factory defect. I sent it in to Portland, and had a new tool in a week. :tu:

The warranty service is awesome, you'll have a great new tool in about a week if you are in the US.
