Great tool!

As a firefighter I'm buying it ASAP!! It looks excellent to work with gloves on and all tools are one hand opening. Can't wait to see reviews. I just hope they will do something with dimensions !

It's not a tool for military (why they would make one when you have MUT?)

Because things for the military and police sell best, followed by firefighters and EMTs, followed by the rest of the world.  :P

I's true if you do not have "fresh" tools in line like MUTs.

Do the military types really like woodsaws more than files?

Military types? I keep asking that question about a lot of tools , sidekick immediately comes to mind.

I've used and dont mind a saw, IF theres room, not in place of scissors, or a file .

As for the tool itself, other than the one hand opening of all tools, I just keep thinking it looks like gerber ripped LM off, and improved the design.

A huge brick that can be opened with one hand.

it is like a concept mock up that went to production too soon.  Look at the tools, they still have nail nicks like they just borrowed them for this tool, without redesigning them for it specifically.

And IMO a one handed opening tool needs a pocket clip.  If the whole concept is quick draw and deployment, then this thing just seems too unwieldy to fill that role. its like the gerber radius it looks interesting by itself until you see it with something next to if for scale, and realize it is a giant tank.

I does look like it's still mocked up, and I am sure LM would agree.   They will polish it I'm sure, but if you take a look at the Wingman as an example, it may just come out like that.  I personally think the wingman was undercooked and needed more time.  It looks cheaply made if you can look past the polish, hopefully the OHT won't come out that way.

The entire tool itself seemed a bit.....big, and cumbersome. :-\  Especially for the length of the blades and the size of the pliers it had. :(  Essentially it seemed like a "Super Tool sized" tool with "PST-sized" pliers and blades.

In Leatherman's defense though, we were told that these are still just early prototypes. Release date for the OHT is supposed to be 3rd quarter 2012, so hopefully they will juggle the proportions between now and then. :salute:
+1 :tu: I like it and love the Coyote brown but not keen on spring loaded pliers but hey will be interesting to see the final production models, still amazed to see Leatherman going all slidey on us :o

For sure there is the obvious gerber slider 'inspiration', but I also see some SOG in there.  The nail nicks for the tools are the same as SOG nicks.  So maybe you can say this is cross manufacturer inspired... or they used some sog parts in their mock up.  :D

Is it only me? I am bothered the in the slide in position of the pluers the tool hand does not close all the way, worried about the aerodynamics of the tool.

I rather liked the Wingman. I did not agree with the tools they decided to equip it with, but as a whole I was fairly impressed for the price.

I actually liked the tool selection, not the pliers or the weight.  Thing weighs just a bit more than a blast and doesn't have near the utility.  That and I don't care for the anvil cutters one bit.  I gave it a chance, but it didn't impress me.

Nice photos grant!  I like the BO better for sure.  I think I may go with the BO Rebar first too.

As for the OHT, the tools look very useful, though I much prefer the phillips found on the Blast, ST300 and so forth.  Looks like they stole this one from the Wingman/Sidekick.

Is it just me or does the handle pivot look a tad on the flimsy side?  The pliers look sturdy enough but the handle pivots look thin.

I do believe the Blast to be a better tool. I do agree the weight was a bit much on the Wingman and I also hated the wire cutters.

I may be a little biased as I have carried a blast for a long time, but after about 3 days with the wingman I found myself running back to the blast.  My wife liked the wingman, but really it was just the spring loaded pliers that grabbed her.

If they calle it the
LeRbOg NailBiter,  I will buy one the day it comes out, for the name (and laughfactor) alone, otherwise, its a pass.

the concept is great, but I would have personally made some major design changes, and  I completely believe the kinks, and tool design could be reworked to be an amazing tool. Plus I can toally see at least some minor redesign on the slider alone instead of the gerber design. Unfortunately I dont make the big bucks to do that, so I guess we al get this frankenLerbog instead

A few details, many of which have already been discussed:

- Impetus for the OHT was the military crowd, who seem to prefer the one-hand plier deployment system (pioneered by Gerber)

- all eight blades/tools are one-hand opening, all have liner locks

- pliers are spring loaded. (the only other spring loaded/sliding head tool that I can think of is the Paul Chen Multitasker)

- handle scales are made from cast aluminum. We're told that the black version will be black anodize HIII, while the tan version will be cera-kote

- cast into the handle scales are icons, indicating which type of tool is located at that station (saw, can opener, knife blade, screwdriver, etc)

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

It looks kinda blocky and unwieldy. I really dislike spring loaded plier. But its interesting and I`ll get one and see what it can do.    :D   Hopefully they will tweak it some before it`s released.

How much do you think the tool weights ?

I really wished it would be fully closed or with just little space between the scales but I'm still buying it.

I quite like the open look when closed - plenty of palm clearance
I'd like to see them bring out more options like this with other tool config's

It's sure interesting to LM's take on the sliding head, but this is one I'd very much have to hold before I buy.  As others have said, it just looks quite bulky and I'm still not convinced by semi-3D Phillips screwdrivers.

It's just not doing anything for me  ::)  If they're going to use Gerber's OHP then at least make something compact like the MP600.  This appears about the size of a Surge only wider.  I'll stick with the REBAR
