Nice job syph, I'm getting goose bumps waiting! No sneak peeks? :D JR

I got your brass liners cut today. :D  Its currently in the rough assembly stage where I do the fitup on long brass pins, then belt grind the back to make all the springs and liners nice and flush.  Then I take it all apart and hand finish each spring and liner, then polish.  Then I do the final assembly.
So in other words no sneak peaks :( JR

Your mod that has the openers and Phillips in one layer, can the awl replace the can opener?  Then we could have the nail file and the awl together on the 93mm chassis.

I dont think so, but it would be really close.  I did put the awl where the can opener was before, but I had to bend the tip of the bottle opener to allow room, and I didnt love doing that.  The phillips might allow for the awl, but its longer than the can opener is... if it fits it would be a tight squeeze.

This is all the springs for your mod and brass liners rough cut.  I used to try to finish each part on its own, then I clued in to do a rough assemble and grind the whole back all at once so they are nice and flush, then finish them individually.

The long L pins make it easy to quickly disassembles, and I have a bucket of old msc broken parts that I use as temp fit up pieces just so the springs are just right. It works great.

I am so jealous of all these syph007 mods!  Only a few more weeks and I'll have the cash to place an order.

Here are some more part way through finishing the back grinding.

And here are the pieces that were in that stack for grinding all done.

Next I do 600 grit slack belt sanding, then 800 wet/dry by hand, then wool buff and polish.  Ive never photographed those steps, so while Im doing this I might as well show the process and I'll take pics at each stage.

Doing the liners and springs is usually the most time consuming part of the job.  Then I can make the pivots and assemble.   :tu:

Ok I got a question for everyone, what size sheath is needed for one of syph007's custom sak's? I have two of the thick brown(but looks red) basket weave ones but both are extra large, any clue if a medium or large will fit a farmer with scissors and syph's patten Philips/openers? Thanks, JR

Here, I will tease you with a pic of one part I just made.  :D  This is the old brass keyring spacer riveted with a 1/16 brass pin to the new liner I made.  Sanded, polished and ready to rock.  When I do brass or Ti liners and keyrings I rivet them together as it drives me nuts when they move after assembly.

Yes! Me too. This happens on factory alox and it bugs me. I can wiggle the keyring nub back and forth on the farmer. It's like a loose tooth you just can't stop wiggling it. Arghhhh!!

Ok, Im all done Big Red. :D

First some closed shots from various angles.

And some open shots showing all the tools, and the first for me of putting on a cadet nail file.

And a close up of the nail file nail nick.  It really did need a thicker spring to force it up higher, it wont work with a standard blade spring as nicely.  Well you could bend up the spring to raise it higher, but then the springs wouldnt be flush on the back.

I tried to show the spacers here for the phillips but it's hard to see. I made them from brass as well and polished them.  They look sweet in person, but hard to photograph.

Cheers!
