So, you are basically "tiling the plane" on the scales. Which brings to my mind the great tessellation etchings of M.C. Escher, which are still under copyright, unfortunately. But you could create your own!

I had to look that up but those do look awesome.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I've spent 2 days on brass mag glass redesign and fixture making.  I'm taking video as I go though. Might have something to show tomorrow.

I should clarify Ive spent 2 days on the FIXTURE for holding the material to make the holder.  Ive got to the point where I can make the body fine and to tolerance, but I still have to cut the new lens retaining grooves.  At least this is a one time pain job that I can use to make as many of them as I want.  :D

Mag glass holder is 95% done now.

Meanwhile...

I put together this super tinker to see how the textured Titanium scales looked after ceramic tumbling. Very nice I think. This one also has a copper cross. The only difference with this texture versus smooth is it took longer (36hrs) in the tumbler to get a nice even look.

This. Plus a cybertool layer with the bitholder in Ti. Yes, that would be it.

5 days of work, but now I am super happy with the mag glass holder.   Take a guess how the lens is held in, its not glue and the answer was so simple it was a total facepalm when I figured it out.   No more set screws for me.

Im happy to offer customer name engraving now too.  Go Tormach!

Nope but I did think of that.  It didnt expand enough when heated to work when I tried.

Did you use some type of spray or lubricant to slip the glass into place? Maybe some some sort of thread?

Nothing there except brass and glass.  The only machined feature is one inner lip that prevents the glass from passing though one side.

The solution was so simple I didn't even believe it until I tried it and proved to myself it worked.  The glass can not be removed even with firm figure pressure.

something like a depression in the center part so once its press fitted it can't go back?

Is the frame slightly oval and when you drop the lens in you turn it so that it tightens to a friction fit ?
