Oh boy.  Syph, you've done it now  :D.  I can only imagine the interesting orders for 84mm Ti SAKs you'll be getting.  Flood gates officially opened.

Is it possible to have an awl and a small blade on an 84?

I was thinking awl and big blade on the first layer, and small blade and nail file on another layer. But then would the small blade and file be accessible?

Perhaps if they are on the outside, next to the opener layer? Perhaps seating slightly deeper than originally, and with the alox/ti scales accordingly trimmed to allow access?

Is it possible to have a Phillips next to the two openers, like you do on 93s?

Sounds like you need a 93mm SAK Sakpan74 !!!!     ;)

This config sounds like a mod too far to me !!

You can't do the Phillips/openers on a 91 - So no way on an 85
Also the awl is a thicker 93mm width tool and the full width of the SAK - whereas the secondary blade / nf is not a full width (spacer) of a thinner SAK - So no way again I'd say!

Anyway Syph can do anything -    :o   -  Let's see what he says.

Correct.  It was a herculean effort to get scissors on this frame.  Nothing else that wasnt designed for the 84mm frame is going to fit on there.

I have one customer who has a vision condition that I have made alot of custom saks for with mag glasses on them.  He is searching for a smaller diameter high magnification lens that I will be able to fit since I make the housing for those I can make a shorter one.  The standard Vic one is much do large to fit on an 84.  Other than that I cant think of anything thats realistic to fit on there except backside tools once I make scales that accommodate the 4th pin.

So lets see that leaves us with the following layers that are possible with no backtools.

1a nail file / main blade
1b small blade / main blade
1c combo tool main blade

2 scissors

3 bottle opener / can opener

I think 84mm wood saws can still be had on the kids models?  Not something I would stock though, so in general I would say the three models Id be doing for now are Cadet X, Cadet II X, Bantam X.

Adding backtools would then give the option of backside phillips / corkscrew / awl.

Wow... just sweet... 84mm saw is available on the Walker/Lumberjack model too apart from the My First Vics... I’m sensing there might be some requests for at least a Micro Farmer X...

It sounds like a 4 layer huntsman small and artisan would be possible.

Oh I didn't even realize walkers were still produced. Haven't looked too much yet at what available.

Considering you can do cadet II X, can we expect an 84 alox/ti deluxe tinker? What price range would that be?

I meant a cadet II x with pliers. A cadet eith small blade instead of nail file, scissors, pliers and openers.

what about the Wenger magnifying glass that fits on the long tool ?
it is much smaller than the Vic 91mm one, I think I have one or two that I don't no what to do with if you are interested (lens only, or with the original tool -from which it falls pretty easily-)

I like the 84mm size, it took me 3 times to build this one. I wasn't satisfied the first 2 times and tore it down. I still am not good at riveting though. I also didn't have the correct pin size so I had to sand down larger diameter rod.

What was the change you made S87?   ???

Backspring CS to Phillips?
Looks like original 84mm scissors.

I took a cadet and added back spring tools from a older model salesman (super tinker small) I scored on the bay. The knife blades were pitted but the scissors were still in good shape so it was the perfect donor knife. I also sacrificed a small tinker to get the small blade, I didn't  care for the nail file.

Cadet plus scissors, with ribbed texture and Timascus front scale.  :D

I forgot about the issue of needing liners.  Since a cadet comes with 1, and I need 2 for since im adding a layer, I had to burn a few days coding up some 84mm liners.  Standard, and thick with and without keyring.

Love to see you figure out how to switch out the nail file for a pioneer awl without adding a fat spacer on the blade pivot...custom liner?  :dunno:

But loving your work Syph007...really beautiful work and functional too.  :like:

Good luck with the wrist surgery, and tell that guy SAK surgery inc is depending on it.
