Not trying to hijack the thread but can anyone point me to a current list of alox sak's that are available to purchase?

I have done alot of searching but havent uncovered any kind of current list of what is being produced.

Thx. I appreciate the help. :D

I believe this is latest one. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

you know Syph, some would say you are sacrilegous...

Oh Im sure collectors would feel that way.  To me they are just parts.  Ironically I'd value a 'limited edition' one lower than normal since the blades are marked up with the special numbers.   It wouldnt be an issue if Victorinox didnt discontinue all the cool alox models.

I'd agree with that too. The numbering takes away from the tool rather than adds to it in my opinion, but I can appreciate the appeal for others. Great work on that one by the way - the brass liners really set it off :tu: If the marlin spike wasn't so rare and pricey I'd like to have a play with one for a bit.

I've had a boat for nearly 12 years, and never used a marlin spike for splicing (never spliced a rope either), but I do like having a general purpose pokey thing to save making a mess of other tools. I don't like the ones on the 111mm line though  :-\

Numbers don't do much for me either - to be honest, the most exciting Alox knives out there for me, are the awesome mods you guys are turning out :tu:

I bought one of the chocolate brown Alox Pioneers (#/50) and don't much care for the # on the blade either.  I would be even happier with no number and the knowledge that only 50 were made.

Here's another compact with pliers (compact mechanic?), green scales and liners.  :D

I'm getting faster at knocking these things out!  ;)

Just picked up some more scales, I've been out of blue for awhile now.  The experiment with hard anodizing liners was a success, so I've been throwing some of those in each batch I run.  I will do a lot more for black and red since those have become popular requests.

Is it just me or are the new scales a darker shade of blue than the first run?

Yep a little bit.  Each run of red was a slightly diff shade too.  Its only noticable if you compare them side by side though.  But if I was to mix and match from different runs on the same SAK it would probably look weird.

That idea you had about black scales and red liners was a big hit.. :D  People keep asking for those.

Cool! That was fast. Hey Waterlander, there's the 58mm scales for your Rambler. Take good care of it. It's the only HA 58 that'll ever be made unless somebody else picks up on doing them.

And since somebody's bound to ask, the 93 backscale that has the cutout is for a 91mm backtool Phillips that I adapted to fold into the cutout like how the marlinspike does. I got it fitted in and snapping right long ago and just got around to sending the scales in for HA with a few others. We'll see how that one turns out.

I'm more excited about building a full set of Syph colored scale 93s for my collection than I was about the original titanium ones.  :D

5 layers! What a brick! :D
How thick can you make those with your barrels?

No limit! Only one's willingness to carry a large amount of steel.  I haven't gone past 5 layers though.  The liners begin to be a key support system though with this much spring force.  Its a real pain to get the last scale snapped into place.

So you connect two barrels with an inside screw?

I use extra long screws that will go through a half a barrel and into a second.  Make sense?

Most screws normally are heat treated.  There is almost no force on the joint though, its all shear force on the pivot, and the splice goes in the middle of a big spring, usually the scissors, or if there are pliers I put it there.  This is no tensile force on the pivot or joint at all.

I have this blue Super Electrician in my hands (thanks, Robert!) and I do not find it to be a brick of a SAK after all. It is about the same thickness like a Hardwood Huntsman (91mm) and significantly thinner than a cellidor Craftsman, for example. Weight is also less than a regular SwissChamp.

I was not referring to SwissChamps when I called it bricky. :P
I made a Farmer with scissors and it's really at the limit for EDC.

EDC limits are different for each person. I have no problems carring this blue oversized Electrician in my pocket. In fact, just did that ::)

Also, my EDC was for many years a SwissChamp where again I had no problems having that in the pocket.

I still pocket EDC a cybertool 34 on a lanyard attached to belt.. I never notice it there or maybe Im used to it.

The only way to lighten up the wide alox models is to drop the heavy steel springs for Ti ones, but that's another project that I cant do yet.

I notice you added back a liner between the file and the saw. I know that wasn't done on the previous file/saw setup. Was that by request or did the lack of liner cause some rubbing issues or lack of stability?

The saws were placed by the master modder Syph007 each on their own layer by (my  :D) request. I just like them this way.
